About half an hour later, Helena finally ended the call. She glanced back at the beach, where Julian and Skye were still happily building sandcastles.
Not wanting to interrupt their fun, she sent Julian a quick text.
Helena: *My laptop is in the room. I need to head up and handle some work; it's too noisy out here.*
Julian: *Alright. I've booked a restaurant for later, so just come down when it's time for dinner. Skye wants to play a bit longer, so I'll stay out here with her.*
Helena: *Sounds perfect.*
Tucking her phone away, Helena looked up just as Julian caught her eye. They exchanged an understanding nod. Skye waved at her with a massive grin, and Helena smiled back, her eyes crinkling with warmth. Pushing herself up from the lounger, she began the short walk back to the hotel.
The oceanfront resort was a sleek high-rise boasting stunning panoramic views. At this hour, the lobby was pleasantly sparse, as most guests had gathered on the beach to watch the sunset. Helena kept a low profile as she approached the elevators. Her suite was on the executive floor, which meant she had access to a private elevator and dedicated staff.
The doors soon dinged open on the twenty-eighth floor. Just as she stepped out, her phone chimed with a message from her secretary, delivering a final draft of a contract. Glancing down at the screen, she walked right into someone's solid chest. "I'm so sorry," she apologized instinctively.
She froze the moment she looked up. It was Sebastian Hayes. She hadn't expected him to be here, assuming he had already left Coralia entirely.
Suddenly, she remembered tomorrow's auditions. Janetta's name was on the list. Was Sebastian here to support his wife? She couldn't be entirely sure.
But facing him, she easily maintained her composure. "Mr. Hayes. What a coincidence. I thought you had already flown back to Riverton."
"Something came up," Sebastian replied, his tone perfectly flat.
Helena offered a polite hum, showing zero interest in pressing the issue. After all, Sebastian and Janetta were married; it made perfect sense for him to accompany her here.
