He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 555

There were only a handful of suites on this exclusive floor, meaning Sebastian was staying here as well. Helena hadn't anticipated such an annoying coincidence, but outwardly, she remained as cool as ice. As she brushed past him, she could feel his heavy gaze burning into her.

To be precise, his eyes were locked on the space right behind her ear. He remembered perfectly: the real Helena had a small, pale pink birthmark on her right earlobe. In the split second she walked by, Sebastian thought he caught a glimpse of it. His pupils constricted, and without thinking, he reached out and clamped his hand around her wrist.

"Mr. Hayes, this is incredibly inappropriate," Helena stated calmly, even as his iron grip held her fast.

Sebastian's predatory gaze darkened, locking onto her. Being subjected to that suffocating scrutiny made her heart pound, but she refused to let her mask slip.

She didn't say another word, nor did she flinch away from his intense stare. Standing this close, Sebastian finally got a clear look. There was no birthmark on her right ear.

He abruptly released her hand. "My apologies."

He offered no further explanation.

Helena just murmured in acknowledgment, choosing not to make a scene. In truth, she simply wanted to get out of his vicinity. Being alone in the same space with him made her skin crawl with tension. Retracting her arm and offering a final, stiff nod, she turned and disappeared into her suite.

Sebastian remained rooted to the spot, his face an unreadable mask. Only after her door clicked shut did he turn and enter the elevator. They interacted with the frigid distance of complete strangers.

Inside her suite, Helena fought to steady her racing heart, forcing herself to push the encounter out of her mind. She knew she would have to face him eventually, so running away wasn't an option. Taking a deep breath, she regained her composure, opened her laptop, and immediately dove into her work.

A message from Julian popped up on her screen.

Julian: *Meet me at the hotel restaurant at 7:15 PM. I secured a private dining room.*
