He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 91

Sebastian answered instinctively.

The casual reflex deepened the disappointment in Helena's eyes, pooling into a suffocating wave of despair.

Whenever Janetta called, he responded immediately.

But whenever she called him, it was always forwarded to Special Assistant Miles.

Her chest tightened.

She thought she had moved on, so why did it still hurt?

"Seb, are you coming home for dinner tonight?" Janetta's soft voice drifted through the speaker. "Grace dropped by earlier. She asked when we're going to visit her together."

Grace Dale.

Helena knew exactly who she meant.

Before Sebastian had even signed the divorce papers, Grace was already itching to welcome Janetta into the family.

How ironic.

Helena let out a dry, mocking laugh.

She knew Janetta would hear that laugh loud and clear.

Janetta was nothing if not paranoid and hyper-sensitive.

Sure enough, before Sebastian could say a word, Janetta spoke again.

"Seb... did I just hear Helena? Did you find her?" she asked quietly.

Sebastian neither confirmed nor denied it. He remained silent.

Janetta's tone shifted, laced with manufactured grievance. "I'm sorry. I wouldn't have called if I knew you were with her. She's pregnant, so please be gentle with her. She's been wandering around all month; she must be exhausted."

She let out a soft sigh, playing the part of the deeply concerned friend to perfection.

"The baby she's carrying is so important to you." Her tone grew composed. "Don't worry about me. I have people taking care of me here. I'll be just fine."

Every word dripped with understanding, yet concealed venomous needles.

Helena saw right through her sickening act.

Before Janetta could finish, she suddenly let out a muffled cry.

"Jana!" Sebastian's panicked voice rang out instantly.

It was genuine, unadulterated terror for Janetta's safety.
