Ottilie pulled the blanket entirely over her head, refusing to spare Nyssa a single glance.
No one knew what was said on the other end.
"I was just joking," Nyssa giggled into the phone. "How could she possibly be sitting next to me? I was just worried about your injuries. I know how much you miss her, so I made it up to cheer you up."
The flight attendant politely approached to remind her again, and she finally hung up.
Nyssa looked over at the blanket-covered lump that was Ottilie, her lips curling upward. "How are you going to thank me for that, Ms. Sewell?"
Ottilie threw the blanket off and turned to the aisle. "Excuse me, flight attendant? This passenger keeps harassing me. I'd like to ask her to remain quiet."
The attendant immediately stepped up to Nyssa, dropping the pleasantries for strict professionalism.
"Ms. Tarrant, we have received a complaint that you are disturbing another passenger. Please return to your seat and keep your voice down."
"Understood." Nyssa stood up and retreated to her assigned spot.
The first-class seats had privacy dividers, giving Ottilie an isolated space once she reclined.
She pushed her seat back and went straight to sleep.
Even when lunch was served, the attendant quietly placed it on her tray table without waking her.
It wasn't until she disembarked that she saw Nyssa again.
Her three assistants had flown economy.
At the airport, VIPs took an exclusive exit lane.
Ottilie's personal spending tier granted her VIP access too.
Nyssa led her entourage, drawing the attention of fans and passersby.
Meanwhile, Ottilie walked out quietly, dressed in black athleisure with a cap pulled low and a single bag slung over her shoulder.
Hospital.
Noon.
In the VIP ward, a group stood around Yorath's bed with grave expressions.
Jevon spoke first. "The last place she was seen was the hospital entrance. She really took the kid and ran!"
"You don't think she was kidnapped, do you?" Elian chimed in. "Maybe someone found out she's carrying Yorath's kid and snatched her for ransom."
The memory of her previous kidnapping was still fresh in everyone's minds.
Yorath hung up and looked at Jevon. "Go personally. Bring her back."
Jevon looked deeply reluctant. "She's nothing but a headache. Just looking at her pisses me off. I'm not going to see Nyssa, why am I going after her? This is exactly what she wants—playing hard to get."
"I can go," Elian offered.
Jevon coughed awkwardly. "You're heavily injured, man. And you still have a concussion. If Elian goes, who's going to treat you? Some third-rate hack?"
Yorath didn't say a word.
Jevon muttered under his breath, "Fine, I'll go, alright? I'm always the one cleaning up her messes. Look at Nyssa, she never causes me any trouble."
He left the room, swearing the whole way out.
Yorath tried calling Ottilie's number. It was turned off.
He typed out a text message but didn't send it.
Elian glanced over. "She's way too immature, Yorath. You're stepping into a major political role in two years. With her background, she'd never pass the political vetting to marry you. It's just a pipe dream."
Yorath sat there, expression completely frozen.
