He Waited She Wilted (Ottilie and Yorath) novel Chapter 203

There was no such thing as a free lunch. He hadn't come to support her out of the goodness of his heart.

"I have a younger brother who got himself into some trouble," Hayden explained. "I'd like to hire Mr. Fordham to represent him."

"Mr. Fordham and I are done."

Hayden chuckled dismissively. "Business is business, and personal is personal. You two have been together for years. It doesn't just evaporate overnight."

"My brother didn't do anything too crazy. He broke in to steal, bumped into the homeowner showering, and lost his head. Attempted assault. Caught red-handed. Yorath is the only lawyer who can get him off."

Ottilie stared at him. "If what you're saying is true, then he deserves whatever he gets. You can leave now."

Hayden offered a bitter smile. "I know he deserves it. He committed a crime and should face the law. But he's my family. I can't just sit by and watch him go down. Please, do me this one favor. I'll owe you."

"I'm sorry. I can't help you."

She gestured toward the open door.

Maintaining his polite demeanor, Hayden stepped out.

"Please consider it. If you can make this happen, I'll grant any wish you have."

Turning to Lachlan, she said, "Once we're out of sight of the fans, just drop me off on the street."

"You're an artist under my company now. How can I let you wander around alone? Where to? I'll drive you."

She gave him the address of Yorath's hospital.

She needed to negotiate with him to get the wilderness survival show's rights back.

"I've arranged a high-end apartment for you, complete with a driver and bodyguards," Lachlan said. "I'll personally act as your manager, and you can pick your own assistant."

"Mhm," she murmured, then fell silent.

They arrived at the hospital. As she got out, Lachlan offered, "If you're nervous, I can go in with you."

"No need, Mr. Schmidt." She headed inside and made her way to Yorath's room.

The door was wide open.

A cleaning lady was mopping the floor, and a young nurse was clearing away medical supplies.

Men like Elian Zouch and Jevon Crawford were exceptional leaders. None of them were mediocre.

If there was a single fool in Yorath's orbit, it was her.

Treating a transactional arrangement like a genuine romance.

"Where is Mr. Fordham? Did he change rooms?"

"He was discharged," the nurse replied. "I heard them say they were heading to The Empyrean."

The Empyrean again.

Wasn't he strictly confined to his bed?

Just who was this mysterious VIP living there?

Someone so important that a practically paralyzed Yorath insisted on dragging himself over to be by her side.

Ottilie decided it was time to see this place for herself.
