He Waited She Wilted (Ottilie and Yorath) novel Chapter 206

After officially announcing Ottilie's signing, Lachlan's first move was to throw a lavish celebratory banquet.

The party wasn't about celebrating her value; it was about flaunting his victory over Yorath.

To display his 'sincerity,' he hand-wrote an invitation and dispatched Heath Schmidt to deliver it personally to the Fordhams.

Naturally, Heath was shut out, leaving the invitation with the gatekeepers.

Halfway back, Huxley Tarrant slipped into Heath's car.

"Get me an invite to your family's little victory party."

"You can't even score your own invite, and you have the nerve to come begging me?" Heath scoffed.

Huxley brushed off the insult.

In this social jungle, taking hits was part of the game.

Even historical greats had endured humiliation before rising to power.

"Look, we're birds of a feather. There's plenty of room for us to collaborate down the line. Making an enemy out of me won't do you any favors."

Heath's lips twitched in a sneer. He tossed a blank invitation into Huxley's lap.

"There. Now get out."

In their elite circle, the legitimate heirs despised the illegitimate sons, and the illegitimate sons spat on desperate, fallen-family lapdogs like Huxley.

Catching the card, Huxley flipped it open to check the authenticity seal.

Printed inside was a blurred, stylized silhouette of Ottilie.

It was a deliberate, arrogant flaunting of Lachlan's newest trophy.

"Your older brother finally scores a win, and he's practically screaming it from the rooftops," Huxley mocked.

"I have to admit, he knows his dirty tricks," Heath replied. "Why didn't I think of signing her?"

"Like she would ever sign with you?" This time, Huxley was the one sneering.

"There are no permanent friends or enemies, only permanent interests. If he can sign her, so could I."

Huxley let out a harsh laugh, tapping the invitation against his palm. "I guess working in the entertainment industry really does require a wild imagination."

He wondered how drunk Heath had to be to dream up that fantasy.

An invitation also landed in Marcella's hands.

Her emotional composure didn't fracture for a second.

"We all have different pursuits. You prioritize romance. I do not. I have my sons... I have the family's legacy securely in my grasp. With all of that, what on earth do I need 'love' for?"

Eleanor's face darkened further.

As long as the legitimate heir, Lachlan, was alive, her son Heath would never touch the inheritance.

Just then, Tanya quietly interrupted.

"Mr. Fordham is back."

Marcella looked up to see Lorenzo standing in the doorway, quietly observing them.

Eleanor hastily stood up to greet him, but Marcella remained seated.

Lorenzo walked over to Marcella and pressed a gentle kiss to her hair.

"I won't intrude while you have company."

She nodded, and he took his leave.
