He Waited She Wilted (Ottilie and Yorath) novel Chapter 233

Ottilie sat on the sofa, positioning herself as far away from the group as possible.

Elian walked over, performed a brief check-up, and asked a few questions about how she was feeling.

Once he confirmed her general vitals were fine, he instructed, "Let me see your hand."

Ottilie held up her hand, which was still wrapped in gauze.

She had gone out to the countryside earlier that day, lugging around woven sacks and eggs, leaving the pristine white bandages speckled with dirt.

As Elian reached out to unwrap the dressing, Ottilie instinctively pulled back. "It's dirty. Use scissors."

"Dirty?" Jevon scoffed from across the room. "Elian is a surgeon. He deals with blood and guts all day. A little dirt isn't going to scare him."

Without even looking up, Elian expertly unraveled the gauze and inspected the wound on her palm.

Hand injuries were notoriously difficult to heal. The constant movement easily tore the mending tissue, and keeping it completely dry was a nightmare.

But Ottilie had protected it well. Scabs had already begun to form.

"It's healing nicely. However, you still need to watch your diet. No spicy foods, no soy sauce..."

Jevon chimed in again. "No soy sauce? Come on, Elian, you're a doctor. Trust the science."

"There are a lot of things science can't explain," Elian shot back flatly.

He finished wrapping Ottilie's hand with fresh bandages.

No one brought up the fact that Ottilie had nearly eloped with Yves Walden earlier.

Nyssa broke the silence. "Yorath, what's really going on with Quentin? Who's setting him up? You have to get to the bottom of this and not let whoever is targeting the Fordham family get away with it."

Normally, people avoided heavy topics right before a meal to keep from ruining their appetites.

Any serious business was typically reserved for the study afterward.

But Nyssa bringing it up again immediately drew everyone's attention.

"What do you think?" Yorath asked vaguely.

Looking back, she had handed Nyssa the opportunity on a silver platter.

She had let everyone believe that Nyssa could make decisions on her behalf.

Now, trying to legally throw Nyssa in jail without concrete evidence was virtually impossible.

Thinking of evidence, someone suddenly came to mind.

Fabian, the cameraman.

He had been on set that day.

Only he knew if his testimony was genuine.

As long as there was even a sliver of hope, she couldn't give up.

Turning to Yorath, Ottilie said, "If I'm going to continue filming the wilderness survival show, I want Fabian as my cameraman."

"Fabian was severely burned," Nyssa protested quickly. "His face is completely disfigured. It'll give people nightmares just looking at him. And having someone like that on a wilderness show? It's terrifying. Why don't you use my cameraman, and Fabian can come work for me? Yorath, don't you think that's better?"
