He Waited She Wilted (Ottilie and Yorath) novel Chapter 234

"Let's keep boundaries clear going forward," Yorath stated. "That way, if something goes wrong, no one can pass the buck."

"Alright, whatever you say. I'll follow your lead," Nyssa agreed smoothly.

After dinner, Ottilie returned to her room.

She showered and was about to take a nap when Yvonne knocked on the door.

"Ms. Sewell, someone is at the gates asking for you. He said you left some belongings in his cab and he came specifically to drop them off."

Ottilie suddenly remembered the eggs and vegetables she had brought from the countryside.

"I almost forgot. I did leave things in a car. Have him come in."

Feeling bad for making the driver go out of his way, she grabbed a fifty-dollar bill from her drawer to cover his gas.

After waiting on the porch for a few minutes, a modest sedan pulled up and parked by the main entrance.

Ottilie instantly recognized it as Yves Walden's car.

She hurried down the steps and approached the driver's side window.

Yves stepped out, offering her a warm smile. "You left your things in the taxi. The driver contacted me, and since I took the day off anyway and had nothing to do, I brought them over."

"I completely forgot. I'm so sorry for making you take the trip."

"No need to be polite with me," Yves replied gently.

He popped the trunk and pulled out the woven sack.

Ottilie reached for the carton of eggs.

Yvonne directed a few bodyguards to take the groceries inside.

Yves then retrieved a briefcase from the passenger seat. "I didn't just come to drop this off. I also want to see Mr. Fordham."

"What for?" Ottilie was terrified Yves would get swallowed whole.

He was too kind, too easily manipulated.

"Mr. Fordham said he wanted to discuss the terms of your contract with me. I figured I really should come and settle this properly."

He tapped the briefcase. "This holds every asset I own. If it's not enough, I can take out a loan and pay it off in installments."

Besides, she was the one who had proposed the marriage in the first place.

"Then we face him together," Ottilie said resolutely, leading him inside.

They went straight upstairs to the study.

The heavy oak door was shut tight, the soundproofing so perfect that the hallway was dead silent.

Just as Ottilie reached out to knock, the latch clicked, and the door swung open.

Nyssa stood in the doorway, a stunning, phenomenally expensive pink diamond necklace resting against her collarbone.

The jewel was massive, strikingly similar to the rock Yorath had once used to propose.

Nyssa smirked. "Oh, Ms. Sewell. Looking for Yorath?"

She deliberately adjusted the necklace, making sure it caught the light. "Yorath just gave this to me. He said I've been working so hard these past few days and wanted to make it up to me. Isn't it gorgeous?"

"It's beautiful," Ottilie praised with genuine indifference.

Top-tier jewelry looked good on anyone.
