He Waited She Wilted (Ottilie and Yorath) novel Chapter 256

Ottilie acted completely deaf to the exchange.

Jevon scoffed. "Heartless creature. Yorath, what exactly do you even see in her?"

"Enough," Yorath interjected. "Take her now. Go quickly and come straight back."

"Understood." Jevon shot Ottilie one last glare before spinning on his heel and walking out.

Carrying her bag of Sumo Citrus, Ottilie followed him without sparing Yorath a single glance or offering a word of goodbye.

Yorath watched her figure disappear past the doorway, then leaned back against the headboard and closed his eyes.

The painkillers seemed entirely useless now. His wound hurt when she was there, and it hurt just as much when she was gone.

He sat entirely motionless.

She had only just left, but loneliness was already crashing over him like a tidal wave.

The thought of her going to see Yves tore at his chest.

He picked up his phone, typed out a few swift lines, and sent the message.

Then, he went back to torturing himself with thoughts of Ottilie.

Stepping out with Jevon, Ottilie noticed Nyssa was still there, sitting on a bench in the corridor.

Kendrick stood silently beside her.

Her head injury hadn't been treated yet.

Seeing Jevon emerge, Nyssa stood up immediately. "What took you so long?"

Jevon smacked his forehead in exaggerated remorse. "I am so sorry. Yorath and I got caught up talking business, and I completely forgot I was supposed to take you to the doctor."

"It's fine," Nyssa said graciously. "Company matters come first. We can go now."

"Actually, I can't go with you right now either. I have to drive Ottilie somewhere."

Nyssa's pupils dilated, her face freezing in visible shock.

Ordering Jevon around had always been second nature to her.

He had never once rejected her requests.

And now, he was dismissing her in public?!

But her carefully crafted persona was one of gentle magnanimity. If she threw a tantrum now, it would only prove that her past sweetness had all been an act.

She would be slapping her own face.

Swallowing her fury, Nyssa forced a tight smile. "Of course. Ms. Sewell's matters take priority. You go ahead. When you're back, let's grab a meal and talk, alright?"

To him, there was nothing in this world more important than a man's career.

Leaning back in the passenger seat, Ottilie closed her eyes to rest, not wanting to waste a single syllable on him.

Apparently in a foul mood, Jevon drove like a maniac.

Even in a multi-million-dollar luxury car, the aggressive swerving and hard braking were jarring.

Ottilie opened her eyes and shot him a look.

At that exact moment, Jevon was watching her in the rearview mirror. Their eyes locked for a split second before both looked away.

"There's a blanket in the storage compartment," Jevon muttered. "If you're going to sleep, put it on."

Ottilie didn't respond, simply closing her eyes again.

The speed of the car finally smoothed out.

She had originally just closed her eyes to ignore him, but to her surprise, she actually drifted off.

When she woke up, she realized they were already parked outside Yves's apartment building.

Jevon was sitting quietly in the driver's seat, his breathing shallow and light.
