He Waited She Wilted (Ottilie and Yorath) novel Chapter 255

Jevon glanced into the hospital room. "Wait for me in the hallway for a minute."

"Okay." Nyssa allowed Kendrick to help her out of the room.

Jevon walked in and saw Ottilie holding a bag of Sumo Citrus Oranges, looking like she was about to leave.

He had already heard about Yorath penalizing whoever bought the fruit.

"Yorath can't even get out of bed yet. Where are you going?"

"To drop off some oranges for Mr. Walden," Ottilie replied flatly.

In that split second, Jevon felt absolutely zero sympathy for the guy whose bonus got docked.

If anything, the punishment was too light.

He scoffed and turned to Yorath. "You're really going to let her waltz out of here with your oranges to go see her wild b—her little lover? That bastard?"

"She has business with Mr. Walden," Yorath said calmly. "You will drive her there."

Jevon's lips curled into a smirk. "Got it."

He turned to Ottilie. "You heard the man. Yorath says I'm your chauffeur, which means you listen to whatever I say."

Ottilie turned her head away, completely ignoring him.

Jevon didn't press for an answer. Instead, he stepped closer to Yorath and lowered his voice. "Before Mrs. Fordham left, she dropped her final ultimatum. She said Quentin has to be bailed out within a week."

"A week is enough," Yorath replied. "After Tilly and I get our marriage license tomorrow, I'm going to personally visit the doctors, the administrators, and the victims at St. Dymphna's. If I find out that the hell Ottilie went through in there was orchestrated by Quentin, I will make sure he rots in a cell for the rest of his miserable life."

"He's your own brother. If you go scorch-earth on this, how are you going to explain it to your mother?" Jevon asked.

He then shot a meaningful glance at Ottilie.

"Ottilie, if I were you, I'd take the initiative and beg Yorath to let Quentin off the hook. That's how you secure your footing with Mrs. Fordham and guarantee your place in the family."

"How about you just marry Yorath instead, Mr. Crawford?" Ottilie deadpanned. "Then you can do whatever you want."

Yorath and Lyle Fordham just usually didn't bother engaging in petty squabbles with their own brother.

"Ottilie and I are getting our marriage license tomorrow," Yorath continued. "Since she wants to keep the marriage a secret, we can't have a public wedding. Have the chapel prepare for a private ceremony right after we sign the papers. Just the two of us and our parents for a simple vow exchange."

"There's no need for that," Ottilie cut in.

"A marriage without the blessing of parents won't be a happy one," Yorath insisted. "Whatever others have, we will have too."

Ottilie looked away, utterly repulsed by the topic.

But the more dismissive and reluctant she was, the more intensely serious Yorath became.

"I know your parents won't come willingly. After you drop Ottilie off at Mr. Walden's, come back and get me. I'll personally go invite her parents."

"Yorath, just let me handle it," Jevon protested. "You literally just got out of surgery. If you go moving around and tear your stitches, an infection could kill you."

He shot Ottilie a frantic look, silently begging her to say something.
