He Waited She Wilted (Ottilie and Yorath) novel Chapter 274

Before Ottilie's pho noodles even arrived, Jevon showed up with a massive feast.

He covered the entire table with takeout containers.

The three of them gathered around to eat.

Between bites, Jevon and Yorath casually discussed business.

"I ran into Nyssa in the hallway earlier. She mentioned wanting to terminate her contract."

Yorath replied, "She's been with the company for a while. Didn't bring much in during her early years, but combined with the last few, she's probably generated over a billion for us."

"Yeah, she bought two luxury penthouses, so she's definitely sitting on some cash," Jevon noted. "If she wants to run, she'll have to spit out every cent she's made first."

Yorath smirked faintly. "What's the rush?"

Jevon glanced at him. "What are you planning, Yorath?"

"We hold her contract, and she's right here in the palm of our hands. We have plenty of ways to slowly ruin her. If she wants to leave, it'll either cost her her life or a massive penalty fee. Not a penny less. We set the rules; we have to enforce them. If we let this person slide and give that person a break, what's the point of even having contracts?"

Jevon let out a dark chuckle, casting a side-eye at Ottilie. "Well, Ottilie, your reckless, love-struck phase actually did some good in the end."

Ottilie knew he was mocking her. Back when she had signed her own contract, she had blindly added a ridiculous amount of zeroes to her penalty fee without a second thought.

She just hadn't expected Nyssa to be just as stupid as she was.

Actually, their motives had been exactly the same.

Neither of them had ever anticipated wanting to break their contracts. They had both signed with the sole intention of eventually marrying Yorath.

"I thought you liked Ms. Tarrant, Mr. Crawford?" Ottilie asked dryly. "How can you bear to be so ruthless?"

"There are plenty of women I like," Jevon replied smoothly. "But love is never more important than money."

Ottilie kept her head down, focusing on her food, completely ignoring him.

Jevon turned back to Yorath. "Before Nyssa came to see you, Heath Schmidt was in her room."

"I haven't even settled the score with Lachlan Schmidt for trying to poach Ottilie yet," Yorath said coldly. "Once I'm fully recovered, I'll deal with them all, one by one."

After finishing his meal, Jevon took his leave.

That night, Ottilie stayed at the hospital to keep watch.

Elian Zouch actually had an extra hospital bed rolled into the room and pushed it right up against Yorath's.

Ottilie and Yorath laid on their respective beds.

The lights clicked off. The room plunged into silence.

Once again, Ottilie found herself suffering from insomnia.

Scrambling back, Ottilie mumbled, "Sorry, I ruined your shirt."

Yorath just smiled, sat up to adjust his collar, and swung his legs out of bed to head to the bathroom.

He seemed to be in a fantastic mood.

For the next few days, Ottilie stayed by his side, taking care of him in the hospital.

Yorath healed remarkably fast. By the end of the week, he was cleared for discharge.

On the day he went home, Jevon Crawford—who had been MIA all week—showed up at the door.

And he brought someone with him: Ottilie's primary physician from St. Dymphna's Psychiatric Facility.

Dr. Thorne stepped into the living room and immediately spotted Ottilie sitting on the sofa, quietly arranging flowers.

He immediately offered a deep, overly polite bow. "Good to see you, Ms. Sewell."

Ottilie didn't even look up, let alone return the greeting.

Jevon shot Dr. Thorne a sharp look, signaling for him to follow him upstairs to the study.

Dr. Thorne didn't move. Instead, he bowed to Ottilie again. "Ms. Sewell, you have to save me. I never tortured you while you were at the facility! If it weren't for me, you never would have been discharged..."
