Before Jevon could reply, an urgent voice cut through the hallway. "What's going on over there? Does a patient need medical assistance?"
Quick footsteps rapidly approached.
Yara ran up and stopped dead in her tracks, staring in disbelief. It was Jevon Crawford, holding the famous movie star Nyssa Tarrant in his arms.
Noticing the bandages wrapped around Nyssa's head, Yara immediately slipped into nurse mode. "Where does it hurt?"
Nyssa internally cursed this clueless nurse. "I'm fine. Just a sudden wave of dizziness."
"You hit your head, which means you need bed rest. You shouldn't be wandering around," Yara scolded strictly. "Dizziness means you need to get back to your room right now. I need to make sure you've been taking your medication on schedule."
Without waiting for an answer, Yara reached out and practically pried Nyssa out of Jevon's embrace. "Ms. Tarrant, I'll walk you back."
Nyssa's public persona was built on being kind, gentle, and overwhelmingly warm to her fans.
Unable to outright refuse without breaking character, she forced a polite smile and allowed Yara to escort her away.
As they walked, Yara leaned in and whispered, "Ms. Tarrant, you really need to stay away from guys like Mr. Crawford. They're playboys, third-generation trust-fund brats. Other than Director Zouch, none of them are any good."
"Don't talk about Jevon like that. He's my friend. He doesn't have a bad bone in his body," Nyssa defended him, glancing back over her shoulder.
Jevon stood rooted to the spot, making absolutely no move to follow them.
"Don't let their polished exteriors fool you," Yara warned. "They're ruthless and sleep around. Anyone who gets involved with them ends up miserable..."
Watching them disappear down the corridor, Jevon casually pulled a pristine white handkerchief from his pocket and meticulously wiped his hands.
He tossed the handkerchief into a nearby trash can and muttered a single word.
"Filth."
Back in the hospital room.
Ottilie fed Yorath another piece of fruit before asking, "Are you hungry? I can order some delivery."
"What are you getting?" Yorath asked.
"I want pho noodles, just with pickled cabbage and some greens."
"That works."
Ottilie placed the order. Looking at Yorath, who couldn't sit up properly, she realized a glaring issue.
But as soon as the buckle clicked open, she realized something was very wrong.
He didn't need to use the restroom. He was...
She snapped her head up to look at him. "I thought you needed to go?"
"Sorry. I couldn't control it," Yorath admitted huskily. "You should go out. Give me a minute. But if you're willing to help, that would be even better."
Without saying a single word, Ottilie turned on her heel and walked straight out.
Watching her merciless retreating figure, Yorath felt an icy void open in his chest.
Yet his body was burning like a furnace.
Ottilie was like a block of ancient ice right now. He had no idea how much time or what price he would have to pay to thaw her out.
But as long as she was by his side, he believed she would melt eventually.
As for that Yves Walden, Yorath was going to cut him out of her life permanently.
No matter how deep their connection was, if they couldn't see each other, that guy was just harboring a delusional fantasy.
