"We don't need it." Yorath had never been this intensely desperate. He reached straight for the hem of her dress.
"I don't want to catch anything." Ottilie didn't want to sleep with him.
Knowing how many women he kept on the side, her entire body naturally recoiled in disgust.
"You won't. You're completely clean."
Yorath smothered her protests with a demanding kiss, refusing to let her fight back.
When a starving man is finally allowed to eat, he devours his meal completely.
This particular feast lasted from the afternoon all the way until the moon was high in the sky.
Ottilie's lower back ached, and her legs felt like jelly. Just walking to the bathroom was an excruciating ordeal.
When Yorath came back downstairs with food, he saw her hobbling out of the bathroom, clutching the wall for support, looking incredibly fragile and exhausted.
He set the tray down on the nightstand, crossed the room in a few long strides, and scooped her up, gently depositing her back onto the bed.
"Why didn't you wait for me to carry you?"
"I'm not that delicate," Ottilie shot back.
Yorath just smiled softly. "I wanted to hold you."
He picked up a bowl from the tray. "Yvonne made this Herbal Chicken Consommé herself. Drink up, you need to get your strength back."
She had been complaining about being hungry long before they even finished.
Yorath hadn't stopped.
Now that she was finally allowed to eat, Ottilie attacked the food like a starving animal, practically inhaling the bowl of soup.
She tore through almost everything on the tray before finally sitting back, satisfied.
Yorath loved watching her eat. It made her look so vibrant and full of life.
Only when she was done did she ask, "Are you going to eat?"
Yorath finally picked up his silverware. He started with the two chicken drumsticks that Ottilie hadn't even touched.
She also hadn't touched the grilled steak.
Yorath meticulously cut a piece of the steak and brought it to her lips. "Just one bite."
Ottilie opened her mouth and accepted the bite of steak.
It was incredibly tender and flavorful. "Red wine steak?"
"Yeah. It's Yvonne's secret recipe. You can eat as much as you want without ever getting sick of it."
He offered her another piece.
Ottilie wasn't really in the mood for heavy meat right now, so she shook her head.
"Is this because of me?" Her worst fear was dragging Yves down with her.
And it seemed she finally had.
"Of course not," Yves reassured her. "It's just a different career path. Besides, I genuinely want to make a difference for those kids. As an educator, being somewhere like a rural school where they really need good teachers is far more meaningful..."
Before Yves could finish his lengthy explanation, Yorath casually remarked out loud, "It's three in the morning. I'll take the dishes downstairs so the staff doesn't have to wash them after they've already gone to sleep."
The line went dead silent.
Ottilie looked up. Yorath was standing by the bed, smiling pleasantly at her, with zero intention of actually leaving the room.
Yves cleared his throat. "I'm sorry, I completely lost track of time."
"It's fine. What time are you leaving tomorrow? I want to see you off." She owed Yves so much. She felt like she could never make up for it.
"In the afternoon."
"I'll take you out to lunch tomorrow," Ottilie insisted. "What do you want to eat?"
"As long as I'm with you, anything is fine."
They locked down the time and hung up.
Ottilie set her phone down and stared hard at Yorath. "Did you do that to Yves's job?"
