He Waited She Wilted (Ottilie and Yorath) novel Chapter 285

"I love anything you give me."

Yorath guided her inside, a satisfied smile playing on his lips.

"They aren't for you," she confessed. "I kept getting phone calls during lunch and was super late. I felt awful about keeping Mr. Walden waiting, so I bought these to apologize to him."

Yorath's footsteps hitched. The look of pure bliss vanished from his face, instantly replaced by a dark, simmering jealousy.

He suddenly stopped. She turned to look at him, but his expression had already smoothed back out to its usual calm.

"You're right to get him something. I should have thought of that. Next time, I'll personally help you pick them out."

"Mhm. The guests are arriving soon, right? Yvonne kept calling me with questions earlier. Now that I'm back, what do you need me to do? I'm available."

Yorath pulled her onto the sofa and summoned Yvonne over.

"My wife steps out for a few hours, and you harass her over minor details? You're a well-paid manager. If you need her permission for every trivial thing, I'm docking your bonus this month."

Yvonne took the scolding in silence.

After the reprimand, she stood there like a wooden post.

Ottilie felt that Yvonne was great at everything, except she was too honest. Whenever Yorath scolded her, she wouldn't even attempt to make an excuse.

And docking her pay? Making money wasn't easy.

She tugged his sleeve. "It's our first time hosting a banquet here. It's completely normal for her to ask me questions. A warning is fine, don't dock her pay."

"Since my wife is pleading your case, I'll let it slide this time."

Yvonne bowed and quietly slipped away.

"I'm going upstairs to shower and freshen up. The guests will be here soon," Ottilie said.

"Go ahead. I'll be up to join you in a bit." He watched her ascend the stairs.

With a wave of his hand, Yvonne was summoned back, head bowed as she awaited orders.

"Go buy the exact same bouquet of flowers and give it to Mr. Walden. Take this bunch to my study, put it in a vase, and add some flower food."

"Yes, sir."

What was Yorath planning to do tonight?

Her heart thumped anxiously in her chest.

Yorath sat at the head of the table, offering a charismatic smile to the room.

"Please, make yourselves at home. I didn't invite you all here for any particular business. My Ottilie has returned to the entertainment industry, and I simply ask that everyone looks out for her."

Heath held a teacup, a mockingly polite smile on his face. "Mr. Fordham must be joking. With a titan like you watching her back, no one else is qualified to 'look out' for her."

Huxley added, "I'm more than willing to look out for her. Once she joins the cast, I'll make sure to give her plenty of special attention every single day."

With that, he glanced at Ottilie before quickly averting his gaze.

Though her marriage to Yorath was a secret from the public, everyone in their circle knew about it.

No one dared openly ogle Yorath's official wife right in front of him.

Yorath replied lazily, "With everyone's promises, I feel much better. Three years ago, I let my guard down for a moment, and an accident happened. Many of you were witnesses to that incident. To this day, the thought of it still keeps me up at night."
