Ottilie chased Shawn outside, finally blocking his path on a small stone walkway between the artificial rockeries.

"Shawn, what exactly are you trying to do?"

Shawn crossed his arms, shooting her a look of pure disdain.

"What am I trying to do? Why don't you ask Yorath what he's trying to do? What did he do to me just so he could marry you?"

Ottilie had heard a little about it from Yvonne and knew the gist.

"If you weren't so greedy, no one would have been able to set you up. Gideon Tarrant was supposed to be the guest of honor, but he's an upright man who doesn't go to places like that, so obviously, he didn't fall for it."

"So you're saying it's my fault?" Shawn scoffed. "Yorath purposely dug a pit for me, and you knew about it but didn't warn me! You always side with outsiders. Don't forget, Ottilie, you have Sewell blood in your veins. Don't think that just because you married rich you're suddenly royalty. You'll always be nothing but cheap trash."

Ottilie was long used to the verbal abuse from her family.

She didn't care. It couldn't hurt her anymore.

She got straight to the point. "Stay away from the Meridian Villa, and stay out of Yorath's business."

"Are you lecturing me?" Shawn glared furiously. "I've been too nice to you, haven't I? You think you can talk to me like that?"

He raised a hand, ready to slap her across the face.

Ottilie dodged it effortlessly. His hand slapped hard against a stone, making him wince and hop around in pain.

"During that wilderness survival show... those masked men Heath brought to break my legs. That was your doing, wasn't it?"

Shawn looked up at her, opening his mouth, but no sound came out.

"Was it you?" Ottilie pressed.

"Stop falsely accusing people! How was I supposed to know you were filming a show? You didn't tell me."

Some things could be said but not done, and some things could be done but not said.

And trying to ruin Ottilie was something you did but never talked about.
