She gave Tanya a shallow bow, a gesture of finality.
Knowing Lorenzo was a dead end, Tanya realized her daughter was her last lifeline. Seeing Yvonne turn to leave, she scrambled up in a panic. "Yvonne, don't walk away! You can't just leave me here! I'm your mother!"
Ottilie peered over Yvonne's shoulder and flashed a bright smile. "I guess a DNA test will clear that up."
Only then did Tanya notice Ottilie standing behind Yvonne, dressed in a striking, celebratory red. Ottilie hadn't even worn colors this bold for her own wedding. It was a blatant victory lap for Tanya and her son's imprisonment.
Tanya's gut twisted with sheer, unadulterated rage. Her eyes bulged, her face contorting into a mask of pure hatred. She pointed a trembling finger at Ottilie. "You bitch! Everything went to hell the moment a cheap actress like you stepped into the Fordham house! You ruined me! I'll come back as a vengeful ghost and make you pay!"
Ottilie shrugged effortlessly. "People like you go straight to the darkest depths of hell. You won't get a hall pass to come haunt me. Best of luck."
Ottilie followed Yvonne out, the sound of Tanya's hysterical cursing echoing behind them.
By the time they got into the car, it was already 10:00 AM. They didn't leave immediately. Ottilie sat in the passenger seat, keeping Yvonne company in comfortable silence.
When Yvonne finally collected herself, she said, "I'm going to the hospital."
"Okay."
Yvonne drove to the medical center, pulled up Tanya's old blood samples from a previous visit, and requested a rush DNA test.
"What if you ran a test with Yorath?" Ottilie suggested gently. "If Tanya isn't your mother, could you be the baby Marcella lost?"
Yvonne clearly hadn't considered it. She stayed quiet for a long time. "No. I don't need to know who my biological parents are. I'm doing fine."
