He Waited She Wilted (Ottilie and Yorath) novel Chapter 334

"What's this?" Heath reached for the drive.

Ottilie slammed her hand over it. "When Lachlan's mother fell from that building to her death, someone caught the whole thing on camera. This is the only evidence."

Heath, whose features were naturally sharp, darkened instantly. He stared at her, utterly speechless.

Ottilie continued, "Look, we both have dirt on each other. You have my secret; I have yours. I don't know if you have backups, and you don't know if I do. Why don't we show a little mutual trust and wipe the slate clean? It's a win-win."

Heath let out a twisted, mocking laugh. "You're trying to play me, Ottilie? You're out of your league. Go ahead and leak it. See if I care." He stood up, leisurely wiping his hands with a napkin before tossing it on the table. "The previous Mrs. Schmidt committed suicide. The cops closed the case. Blackmailing me with some fabricated ghost story is a felony."

"Take it home and see for yourself if it's fabricated. Consider this copy a free sample."

Ottilie stood, walked over to him, grabbed his hand, and slapped the flash drive onto his palm.

She had, of course, stolen it from Yorath. Living with him gave her access to highly classified material.

Heath didn't throw it back. He just glared at her with venomous eyes.

Ottilie smirked. "I'll be waiting for your good news."

She turned on her heel and strutted out. A waiter carrying their appetizers stepped into the room just as she left, freezing at the sight of Heath's murderous expression. Holding his breath, the waiter set the plates down and bolted.
