He Waited She Wilted (Ottilie and Yorath) novel Chapter 338

Ottilie nodded.

"You silly girl," Marcella chided gently. "This is the part where you're supposed to complain that your arms hurt, say that I'm heavy, and ask for a reward. Don't you know how to leverage a situation?"

Ottilie shook her head. She had never been allowed to whine or bargain with elders. Growing up, complaining only earned her a beating.

Marcella sighed. "Well, don't just sit there. Pour me some water."

Ottilie dutifully poured the water and handed it over. Marcella watched her sip it. The girl was painfully compliant—so blunt and easy to boss around. With another sigh, Marcella picked up her phone and transferred some money to Ottilie's account. "Here's some pocket money. Go buy yourself some decent clothes. Stop doing all the hard work and not taking any of the credit."

Unused to such casual generosity from elders, Ottilie didn't know how to refuse. She gave a stiff nod and checked the transfer. It was two hundred thousand dollars.

"Yorath and the boys get a two-hundred-thousand allowance every month," Marcella said casually. "You're part of the family now, so you get your cut too."

Marcella noted that Ottilie didn't even say thank you, nor did she know how to butter up her mother-in-law. She just chalked it up to her son marrying someone a little socially inept. Brushing it off, Marcella lay back down and drifted off to sleep.

At 6:00 PM, Yorath arrived to relieve her, bringing a lavish spread of takeout. They ate dinner together in the ward before he finally told her to go home and rest.

When Ottilie walked out of the hospital, Yvonne was already waiting with the car. Just as she approached, a figure dressed in angelic white stepped out of a nearby vehicle.

It was Nyssa Tarrant.

Nyssa walked up with an impeccably practiced smile. "Ms. Sewell. It's been a while."

"What do you want?"

Ottilie had zero patience for Nyssa's fake politeness. She despised the woman and wasn't going to pretend otherwise.
