He Waited She Wilted (Ottilie and Yorath) novel Chapter 344

Yvonne shielded Ottilie behind her back and viciously kicked away the first person who lunged forward.

But Ottilie refused to hide. She pushed Yvonne aside and stepped right to the front of the mob.

"I'm standing right here. Let's see which one of you has the guts to touch me."

She threw her hat and mask onto the ground. "Who paid you to murder me? Do you realize that beating someone to death is a felony? You'll spend the rest of your lives behind bars."

Often, human nature dictated that showing fear only invited more cruelty.

But when the victim fought back with reckless abandon, the aggressors hesitated.

The fanatical crowd was instantly paralyzed by her sheer ferocity.

She shucked off her jacket and tossed it on the floor, glaring at the mob. "Who's first? I don't give a damn about my life today. Whoever steps up, I will take you down with me."

Yvonne quickly snapped a thick branch off a nearby tree and handed it to her.

Gripping the makeshift weapon, Ottilie took a step forward. The rabid fans simultaneously took a step back.

A few die-hard loyalists couldn't take the humiliation and yelled out.

"There's thousands of us! Why are we scared of one woman? They can't arrest all of us! Let's beat the hell out of her! As long as we don't kill her, the cops can't throw all of us in jail!"

Ottilie sneered. "Thousands of you, willingly committing a crime? Are you Nyssa's personal mafia or her private militia?"

Most of the people there were just keyboard warriors looking for drama. None of them actually wanted a criminal record.

At most, they had planned to hurl some eggs and insults while watching her flee in panic.

They never expected her to show up without bodyguards, refuse to run, and challenge them head-on.

Every word out of her mouth painted them as violent criminals.

If they crossed that line now, they were definitely going to prison.
