Chapter 104

Chapter 104

Ms. Reed looked up at Lana. “Chief Advisor, are you planning to send a strike team into the invasion zone?

Lana stood up and tapped the location of Sunvale on the big screen.

“Lyra will take the cards into the Sunvale Wraith zone. The strike team will provide support from the perimeter,’ she sad

The conference room erupted.

“No way. Ms. Reed was the first to object. “This is nonsense! Chief Advisor, this won’t work.”

An intelligence analyst slammed his hand on the table and stood up. “Chief Advisor! Comrade Vance is Draconia’s representative. If something happens to her, we’re all in trouble…”

“I object.” A middle-aged man from the Think Tank stepped forward, his voice slicing through the chaos. ‘Chief Advisor. not that I don’t trust your judgment, but we all know how important Comrade Vance is to Draconia.”

Another female analyst stood up. “I volunteer to enter the Wraith zone. I’ll go in and check things out for Comrade Vance”

“I’ll go too,” the translator next to her said, taking off her headphones. “My Vital Flame values are all 21, I’m qualified Let me into the core zone.”

“I don’t care if I die in there, but Comrade Vance can’t get hurt,” she added.

One after another, people spoke up.

Lyra watched them all rush to die for her and scratched her head. ‘Why are they like Sister Jo and the hospital crew, worrying over me like I’ll shatter any second?’

She thought, I’m pretty strong. I shouldn’t die that easily, and the Decoy Doll still has nine lives

Lyra opened her mouth, trying to speak. “I…”

“Chief Advisor, this isn’t about taking risks. It’s about our bottom line!” someone interrupted.

She couldn’t get a word in.

She raised her hand again, a bit frustrated. “…”

My Vital Flame values are high. Let me go! another person shouted.

Still. Lyra couldn’t get a word in

Lyra dropped her hand and leaned back in her chair, watching as everyone focused on Lana, arguing non stop

Lana stood her ground, silent, waiting for the room to quiet down before she finally spoke

“This is final,” she said.

All eyes turned on her, full of opposition Lana glanced around and added one more thing

“Lyra’s game items actually work in the real world, Lana sand

The objections caught in everyone’s throats.

Everyone here had seen Lyra’s combat records. They all knew exactly what the Decoy Doll could do. It she took a fatal blow the doll would take it instead, and she’d be whisked away to safety in an instant

The room went quiet. Ms. Reed let out a sigh and was the first to nod. ‘Nine lives, plus the cards, Wraithslayer, and the stealth item. Her chances of survival are definitely higher now.”

The objections faded, not because anyone was convinced, but because there was simply no better plan.

Lana didn’t give anyone time to hesitate. “All departments, move out. Garrett, you’re in charge of picking the team Intel get me the pre-invasion maps of Sunvale and the latest intel. Logistics, prep the comms gear. That’s it, meeting’s over

Chairs scraped against the floor, footsteps overlapped, and people started leaving the conference room one by one

Lana called out to Lyra and Ms. Reed, and once the door closed, only the three of them were left in the room.

Lana sat back down and looked at Lyra. “Lyra, before you head out, there’s something we need to take care of first.”

“Huh?” Lyra looked puzzled.

“Ivana,” Lana said, drumming her fingers on the table. “Have her jump on a video call with the Southern Reach Command Center

Lyra nodded. “Got it.”

She started arranging the ten cards on the table, but suddenly paused.

“What about the other souls? Should we try to contact their countries?” Lyra asked.

Lana stayed silent.

Ms. Reed spoke softly. “Lyra, the countries of the remaining eight souls…”

She paused for a couple of seconds. “Except for North Dawn, which managed to relocate everyone, the other seven nations are completely gone. Wiped out, not a single soul left.”

Lyra’s fingers froze on the edge of the cards. “Wiped out?”

“All gone. They refused to leave their homeland, so every last one of them died where they were, Ms. Reed said

Lyra looked down at the row of black cards with gold patterns on the table. Ten cards, ten souls, ten players who fought for their nations.

Only two of these souls still had a country left, and Ivana’s Southern Reach was down to just one district

Sunhwa’s North Dawn had moved their entire population, now living under someone else’s roof

The other seven? Their countries were gone, and so were their people.

When the game announced only 43 countries remained, Lyra hadn’t felt much Now, staring at the ten cards, she realized eight of their nations had vanished, and seven had lost all their people to the Wraith invasion

Lyra thought, “The Game Invasion has swallowed so many places/

At that moment, something took root inside her Before, she played to win, to bring food back to Dracoma, and to make sure everyone could cat.

Now that new resolve had a name: drive the game off this planet.

Once she figured it out, she looked up. “Lana, let’s get the call going.”

Lyra pulled out Ivana’s D Tier Ambercat Card, set it face up on the table, and pressed her finger firmly against the back

“Release,” Lyra whispered, activating the card.

White light flooded the room as Ivana’s soul took shape in midair, this time, her form was steadier, her outline less ghostly and blurred.

“Ivana.” Lyra called to her.

Ivana’s soul opened her eyes and glanced down. “Lyra, what’s going on?”

“We’re about to connect you with the Southern Reach Command Center. Are you ready?” Lyra asked.

Ivana’s soul shuddered, her hands clenched tight for a couple seconds before she finally relaxed.

“I’m ready,” she said.

Lana picked up the internal phone and dialed the encrypted channel to the Southern Reach Command Center.

“Commander Yelena, this is Lana Sterling, Chief Advisor of Draconia,” she said.

“Ivana Petrova has awakened and is ready for a video call at any time,” Lana added.

There was a brief silence on the other end, then a sharp, shaky breath, followed by the Southern Reach Commander’s voice, low and tense.

“Chief Advisor Sterling, give me five minutes. We’ll get ready right away!” The call ended.

At the Southern Reach Command Center, the Commander hung up the phone.

“Ivana’s awake,” she said.

She turned around and spoke those five words to everyone in the Command Center.

The conference room instantly erupted into chaos. People sprang out of their chairs, cups crashed to the floor, and some covered their mouths, stumbling back in shock.

“Get Lina! Get Ivana’s family! Everyone, gather in the conference room now!” the Commander shouted.

Three minutes later, the Southern Reach Command Center’s conference room was packed.

Lina was stuck in the corner, pushed back to the second row by the crowd, craning her neck to see the front.

Up front, a middle-aged woman stood clutching a handkerchief, her lips moving constantly, muttering something under her breath, too quiet for anyone to catch.

The Commander stood at the front, scanning the room. “Quiet.”

The noise in the conference room died down, leaving only the sound of people breathing, rising and falling throughout the
