Hide and Seek: The Mad Girl Sees All novel Chapter 175

Chapter 175

Snow shook her head. “I don’t know.”

Jane felt a pang of disappointment, but quickly told herself it was only natural.

She didn’t press further. “Thanks, Snow. You’ve already helped us a ton just by telling us this.”

Snow lowered her head, saying nothing.

Lyra’s mind was racing. She felt a bit disappointed, but quickly pushed that feeling aside.

They’d confirmed the existence of the core, found a clue about the oracle, and learned that the souls trapped in the Ghost Wall could be awakened.

That was more than enough for one day.

Jane turned to Lyra. “Lyra, do you have any questions?”

Lyra’s gaze drifted from Snow to the faint outline within the Ghost Wall, not far away, she could clearly see her aunt. Her heart tightened for a moment.

“Big Sis Snow,” Lyra called softly.

She reached out, pointing toward her aunt. “Do you know her?” Lyra’s voice was tinged with hope.

Snow followed her gesture.

“She’s my aunt,” Lyra said softly.

Snow stared at the soul for a few seconds, then shook her head. “I don’t recognize her.”

Lyra’s heart sank a little.

“She was already here when I got here,” Snow said, her voice softer than before/”I never talked to her.”

Lyra nodded and withdrew her hand. “Thank you.”

Jane glanced at Lyra’s expression, but didn’t say anything more. She turned back to Snow.

“Snow, do you know anything about the Wraiths inside?” Jane asked.

“Wraiths?” Snow echoed.

“You know, the Wraiths crawling on the ground, the ones that shoot out black tentacles when they’re hurt, the ones invading our land, Jane explained.

“Do you know where they come from? Or how we can deal with them?” Jane asked.

Snow shook her head again. “After I heard the oracle, I came here. After that I honestly have no idea what happened.”

She paused. “Not until you guys woke me up.”

Jane sighed inwardly. It was pretty much what she’d expected, but still a little surprising.

They came here to build the wall, and they were all inside the Invasion Zone. By all rights, they should’ve run into those Wraiths. So why didn’t they know anything about them?

Chapter 175

Either they had fallen asleep too fast, or the Wraith mist zone was not the Invasion Zone at all. The real Invasion Zone might lie deeper inside, with the mist serving as a defensive barrier. After all, they had never seen Wraiths in the mist.

Jane had asked everything she could think of, and she didn’t want to risk making Snow uncomfortable by pressing further

Out of the corner of her eye, Jane noticed Zoe checking her watch again, her lips pressed into a thin line, clearly trying to hide her impatience.

“Snow,” Jane said, slowing her voice down. “Thanks for telling us everything. It’s getting late, so we’ll be heading out soon.

Snow nodded.

“We’ll be coming in every day. If you remember anything else, no matter how small, just let me know, okay?” Jane added.

Snow didn’t answer right away.

Jane added, “By the way, is there anything about the outside world you want to know?”

Snow’s eyes flickered, glancing at Jane before looking away.

“One more thing.” Jane said, her tone turning serious. “After we leave, will you fall asleep again?”

Snow’s lips moved a little. ‘Yes. Once they leave, I’ll pour my soul power back into the ground and fall asleep again, she thought.

“If you do fall asleep again, can we wake you up?” Jane asked.

Snow looked a bit confused. ‘Do they really need to wake me again? I’ve already told them everything I know. Is there even a point?’ Her gaze moved from Jane to Lyra, then back to Jane. In the end, she nodded.

Jane caught that look on her face and figured that was enough for today. She wasn’t sure which question Snow was nodding to, but at least it meant Snow didn’t mind them being here.

Jane gave her a gentle smile. “We’ll head out now. See you tomorrow, Snow.”

Jane turned and started walking away. Lyra followed for a couple of steps, then suddenly stopped, turned back, and waved at Snow.

“Snow!” Lyra called out.

Snow, who was just about to draw her soul power, paused and looked up.

I’ll come see you again tomorrow!” Lyra said.

Snow paused, the confusion on her face fading a bit. Her lips curled up slightly, and though she didn’t say anything, Lyra could see a small smile starting to form.

Zoe was already urging her. “Lyra, come on, we’re running out of time.”

“Coming!” Lyra called back.

Lyra jogged to catch up with the group, the ten souls drifting along beside them. They made their way through the Wraith mist and back outside. As soon as the signal came back, the recorder on her chest beeped, and the data started uploading automatically.

Their SUV was still parked where they’d left it. They all got in, and Zoe started the engine. The wheels crunched over the gravel as they headed back toward Sunvale Base.

Chapter 175

The base’s conference room was brightly lit.

When Lyra and the others walked in. Nancy, Claire, Vivian, and Toni were already sitting at the table, each with a handwritten report spread out in front of them.

Zoe followed behind, her eyes sweeping over the four of them. “Are the reports done?”

Nancy stood up. “Captain Zoe, they’re done.”

The other three stood up as well. “They’re done, but we haven’t sent them out yet.”

Zoe nodded. “No rush to send them out yet. We’ll do it together in a bit.”

She pulled out a chair and sat down. Lyra was already sitting across from her. “I’ll call Lana.”

Lyra opened the video call app and dialed.

Beep.

Beep.

After the third ring, the screen popped up.

Lana’s face appeared on the screen, the Strategic Command’s big display behind her. Garrett was standing off to the side, holding a glass of water and taking a sip.

“Lyra, Lana said.

“Lana!” Lyra called out.

Lyra propped her phone up on the table, making sure the screen faced everyone in the room.

“We went into the Sunvale Invasion Zone today, and there are a few things I need to tell you,” Lyra said.

Lana’s gaze swept across the faces in the conference room through the screen, then she nodded. “Go ahead.”

“First thing,” Lyra said, holding up a finger. “Nancy, our Vital Flame warrior, actually defeated a Wraith today, without relying on a soul, just her own abilities.”

On the screen, Lana froze.
