Chapter 100 Theo Is Not Elian’s Son
They spoke as if discussing the weather, their quiet tones lost to the murmur of the crowd behind them.
Liana’s eyes burned the moment she heard him, and her feet wouldn’t move. Elian’s other hand came to her opposite shoulder, and he firmly guided her forward.
Anya’s friend, Cecilia Quinn, whispered in her ear. “Did you see that necklace? So gaudy. No clue which flea market she dug it up from to look fancy.”
“Looks like glass to me. Elian doesn’t even like her; he’d never buy her a stone that size, another girl chimed
“She’s here for the first time, trying to make a good impression. Keep it down, okay?” Anya said softly, playing the gracious hostess.
“Why are you so naive? She’s obviously here to steal your spotlight,” Jett grumbled beside her, clearly unhappy.
“She is Elian’s lawfully wedded wife. What spotlight does she need to steal?” Xander interjected, his tone sharp, a clear warning to the younger crowd to watch their words.
“Whose side are you on, man? Liana is nothing. Elian already signed the divorce papers,” Jett shot back.
“The necklace Liana is wearing was given to Linda by Rosalind and Earl on their wedding day. It’s valued at 50 million dollars. So tell me, what exactly is she?” Xander asked, his voice calm and deliberate.
Jett fell silent, stunned.
Even Anya stared at Xander in disbelief.
A ripple of shock went through the group.
“Putting jewelry of that value on her and bringing her to a small family gathering like this—isn’t that proof enough of her standing in the Locke family? Or do you all need Elian to personally throw you out of Alderidge to get the message?” Xander added.
Nathan stood by him the whole time, quiet-his words didn’t carry far.
“But Elian’s jacket is on Anya,” someone else pointed out defiantly. “The jewelry is from his mother. That means his mother accepts her, not necessarily Elian.”
“Exactly. Him walking in with his arm around her is jus for show.””
They crossed the not-too-long courtyard of the Forrest Villa and finally reached the main house.
Liana couldn’t take another step. She felt tears threatening to spill at any second. Fighting to keep her voice steady, she said, “I need to use the restroom.”
“I’ll show you,” Anya offered immediately from behind, stepping forward to take Liana’s hand. “I’ll take you.”
Liana recoiled, pulling her hand away as if burned. “Just lead the way.”
Anya looked wounded, casting a pitiful glance at Elian, who had witnessed Liana’s cold dismissal. She withdrew her hand gently. “This way, then.”

As Liana followed her, Xander asked Elian quietly, “What did you say to her?”

Elian pressed his tongue against the back of his teeth, his gaze dark and sharp as it followed Liana. “I messed up.”
Xander looked at him, puzzled, but Elian was already striding after them.
Inside the powder room-
“Could you please leave?” Liana asked.
“I didn’t think you’d actually have the nerve to come tonight,” Anya replied.
Not only had she followed Liana in, but she also closed and leaned against the door, crossing her arms.
The humble “sister” act was gone, replaced by the haughty demeanor of the Forrest heiress. Elian’s jacket hung loosely on her shoulders.
“Why wouldn’t I? I haven’t done anything wrong,” Liana said coldly.
She suddenly understood why Anya had personally escorted her. It was just like when Anya had lured her to the café and handed her that box of abortion pills.
Sure enough, Anya got straight to the point.
“Liana, I’m not afraid to tell you-Theo is not Elian’s son” Anya declared, her eyes challenging Liana’s icy
stare.
