Chapter 102 A White Pill

“Did you hurt your hand?” he asked.

Liana immediately stared at him, stunned.

What did he just say?

Anya and the others were equally taken aback.

“Elian, she hit Cecilia! Cecilia is Anya’s best friend,” one of Anya’s friends reminded him.

Elian only replied coldly, “She’s Anya’s Sister. What are you all?”

The group fell silent.

Liana’s mind buzzed even louder. What on earth is he saying?

“But-”

“That’s enough,” Anya cut in, stopping Cecilia, who was about to protest. “As my closest friends, do you want to show respect to my sister, or do you want us to be enemies?”

Jett watched from behind, fuming internally. He couldn’t understand why Anya would endure such humiliation.

So what if Liana was Lawrence’s firstborn daughter?

Helena was the one living with Lawrence now. Anya and her brother Sean were the children by his side. Liana had never been acknowledged.

“Liana, I’m sorry. Elian, why don’t you take her to see my father? I’ll handle things here,” Anya said, offering a seemingly sincere apology to Liana before looking at Elian with understanding.

“Next time you need to hit someone, let me do it for you.”

Elian held her hand openly, as if it were the most precious thing, and gently kissed her knuckles before leading her away.

Liana was utterly bewildered, only regaining her senses when he guided her to where Lawrence stood with his associates.

Lawrence and his friends had been watching. He had noticed Liana being cornered earlier. Seeing the couple approach hand-in-hand, he smiled. “Here you are. Let me introduce you. This is my eldest daughter, Liana.”

His five associates surveyed Liana with curiosity.

Lawrence turned to her. “Liana, come. Greet

my

friends.”

Liana looked at his hypocritical face but still stepped forward. “It’s nice to meet you all.”

“Lawrence, you have to admit, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. She looks so much like you.”

“Absolutely. In some ways, she resembles you more than Anya does.”

Perhaps because Elian was present, everyone was remarkably polite.

Elian, however, remarked lightly, “That’s because you haven’t met her mom. My wife takes after her more.”

“Mr. Locke, I have to disagree. They say daughters always take after their fathers,” someone else chimed in.

Elian didn’t bother arguing, simply leading Liana to sit beside him.

“This is the first proper meeting between me and my daughter, and I have to thank Elian for bringing us together,” Lawrence added.

Everyone present played along, acting as if they’d always known of her existence, showing no unfamiliarity, elevating her status in the room.

Then, someone asked the pivotal question, “Liana, where did you graduate from? Did you take the civil service exam?”

Liana smiled, right on cue. “I did.”

Lawrence also looked at her with interest. “You did? I heard you’re still teaching. Did you not pass?”

Anya and her circle had edged closer to the living area. A sharp pang of bitterness shot through her heart.

There Elian sat, right beside Liana. Was he here to be her shield?

If not for him, would these gentlemen who usually doted on her

Liana any

mind?

“Miss Forrest, your mom asks you to come upstairs,” a maid whispered in Anya’s ear.

Reluctant to leave but eager for her mother’s counsel, Anya slipped away.

Meanwhile, all attention remained fixed on Liana.
