His Hidden Family My Ruined Marriage (Liana) novel Chapter 152

Chapter 152 Who Hit You?

“Have you had dinner?”

Elian asked abruptly as the elevator doors opened.

“Nope.”

Liana answered and strode out without a pause.

Until her doubts were resolved, she couldn’t let Theo be alone with Anya.

She walked so fast she almost forgot she wasn’t alone.

It wasn’t until a hand closed firmly around her wrist, forcing her to stop, that she remembered he was right

behind her.

With a strong tug. Elian pulled her into his arms.

“Mrs. Locke, you’re too tense.” he murmured, his voice soft, his hand smoothing over her hair.

Her hands were pressed against his chest. She looked up at him reflexively.

“This isn’t the time for that,” she said, wanting to push him away and hurry to the ward.

“Kiss me.”

His sea-deep eyes held hers, the request a quiet whisper

Liana thought she’d misheard.

Seriously? Now? Kiss him?

“You should go kiss your An-”

The rest of the name was swallowed as he cupped her face and kissed her.

“Mmph.”

A soft whimper escaped her-a sound of pain.

Yeah, the swelling in her face hadn’t faded yet.

Elian let her go at once. That little sound wasn’t right.

Once free, Liana instinctively covered the side of her face that still throbbed from the pressure, turning away from his gaze. “Let’s just go in.”

But Elian caught the hand covering her cheek, his gaze dropping to the flushed, swollen skin. “Who hit you?”

“Your future mother-in-law.”

She hadn’t felt the need to hide it from him; she’d just forgotten about it herself.

His grip on her wrist tightened for a moment. Then, wordlessly, he took her hand and led her into the ward.

Anya was trying to feed Theo some cut fruit. The little boy was squirming, pushing her hand away. “No! I don’t want it!”

Hearing the door, Anya stood up. “Elian, you’re back. Liana, are you staying the night again?”

The excitement at seeing Elian vanished the moment she spotted Liana, replaced by a meek tone.

“Yes,” Liana answered immediately.

Elian glanced down at her, then looked at Anya, still holding Liana’s hand. “Go home tonight. Take a shower, get a proper night’s sleep. You can come back fresh to take care of Theo tomorrow.”

“But I’m worried. What if Theo-”

“I’ll be here. What’s there to worry about?” Elian cut her off gently.

“Alright, then. I really am feeling a bit stretched thin. I’ll be back first thing in the morning,” Anya conceded.

She placed a peeled orange on the bedside table and left with her head bowed.

Shortly after Anya left, a nurse entered with a small tube “Mr. Locke, the anti-inflammatory cream you requested.”

“Leave it here, please.”

“I can apply it for Theo,” the nurse offered politely, part of her duties.

“My wife needs it. I’d like to help her myself,” Elian explained with a patient smile.

Liana had just sat down by Theo’s bed. Before she could even speak to the boy, she heard that. She couldn’t help but glance back at him.

She didn’t like him calling her “wife” in front of others anymore.

“Oh, of course,” the nurse said with an understanding, slightly awkward smile before exiting.

Elian closed the door. He then walked around the room with the tiny camera, holding it up.

“How about here?” he asked, stopping by the window next to a potted plant.

Liana looked up. She hadn’t expected it to be this easy.

She understood his primary motive was to give Anya a night off-he was sparing her the exhaustion of another vigil. But if it allowed the camera to be installed without fuss, it was a win-win.

“Let me check the feed on my phone,” Liana said, pulling out her phone.

Theo sat up on the bed.

Seeing this, Liana looked at him in surprise. “Theo, you can sit up? Doesn’t it hurt?”

“Hurts, ma’am,” Theo said, leaning into her side.

Elian stood by the window, watching silently as Liana gathered the boy into her arms. An unexpected pang of softness hit him.
