“Mom, could you please find someone to help take care of Theo at the hospital?” Liana asked.

“Isn’t Anya taking care of him?” Linda sounded confused

Liana had to explain her suspicions. Hearing them, Lina agreed immediately.

Rosalind was having coffee in the living room. Linda walked over. “Mom, Liana asked me to send someone to look after Theo at the hospital. Who do you think I should send?”

“Does she think Theo’s being abused too?” Rosalind asked.

Linda was taken aback. “How did you know?”

“Theo has fallen down the stairs twice now. I’ve had my suspicions. Anya is, after all, the prized daughter of the Forrest family. Such a refined young lady-if her kindness is only a mask…”

But then, she knew anything was possible.

“Hmph. The things you can’t see with the naked eye are the most frightening. Especially after I saw her mother strike Liana with my own eyes. Listen to Liana. Send someone over quickly,” Rosalind insisted.

Whatever else, Theo came first.

“Okay,” Linda agreed immediately.

Outside the hospital, inside a Maserati, Jett gripped the steering wheel, speaking to the passenger.

“If nothing else goes wrong, Elian probably knows about us.”

“So what if he does?” Anya’s voice was twisted with defiance.

“If he knows and hasn’t confronted us, he might…”

Jett’s fingers clenched tighter on the wheel. He hesitated the words sticking in his throat.

“He might what?” Anya turned to look at him.

“He might… not love you.” Jett forced the words out.

He hadn’t believed it. Even when Xander and the others said Elian didn’t love Anya, he’d refused to buy it- until it seemed what he had with Anya got exposed.

Anya was predictably furious. “He doesn’t love me? Then who? That bitch? Don’t forget the kidnapping! He saved me first.”

“I can break it off.” Jett declared immediately.

“How? It’s a business-political alliance. It affects both your families. And I don’t want you to break it off,” Anya said, thinking him naive. She gave a cold laugh.

“But what about our baby then?” Jett blurted, panicked.

“I’ll have the baby. I’ll make sure he’s the happiest kid in the world. Right now, the priority is dealing with

Liana.”

A new plan was forming in Anya’s mind.

“Dealing with Liana?” Jett was confused.

“She already suspects I’m abusing Theo.”

The memory of Elian and Liana bursting into the room this morning still terrified her.
