“Mhm.” Elian acknowledged, then picked up two small black devices from his desk drawer and walked to the seating area. He placed them in front of Xander. “See if these are your products.”
Xander picked one up, examined it, and frowned. “Definitely our logo. Should be correct.”
“Someone’s watching you?” Xander asked.
Nathan also picked one up curiously. “Is it Liana? I heard she’s consulting a lawyer about suing you.”,
Elian’s eyes narrowed dangerously at that, his entire demeanor suddenly turning stormy.
Xander gave Nathan a surprised look, then turned back to Elian, waiting.
“It’s Anya.” Elian stated flatly, annoyed.
He then shot a cold glance at Nathan. “Is that intel solid
“Huh?” Nathan was momentarily distracted, still puzzling over why Anya would be spying on Elian.
“About Liana suing Elian,” Xander prompted.
“Oh, right. It should be solid. We were having dinner with some people from other firms last night, and it came up.” Nathan confirmed.
Elian’s expression darkened further, but then he gave a humorless, almost proud chuckle.
My wife really has guts.
But then, she is my wife.
“Looks like Liana knowing about Anya and Theo hasn’t moothed things over between you two. That’s why you publicly announced the wedding date?” Xander ventured.
Elían didn’t reply, but to Xander and Nathan, his silence was confirmation enough.
Elian used to think Liana was straightforward, perceptive, and didn’t hold grudges.
Turns out he’d been wrong.
She could hold a grudge.
Just like how she dressed all modest day-to-day but could be utterly captivating in bed.
Elian suddenly realized he used to oversimplify things.
He had known Theo’s situation would cause problems, but he’d assumed they’d work through them.
Now his wife was talking about suing him. That meant the night he’d teased her about coming to “catch him in the act,” she really had been there for that purpose.
The thought made him restless.

He wanted to go find her.
Right now.
But he had to hold back. If he went now, she’d think he was being clingy.

“Elian. Liana seems convinced you’re tight with Anya. She’s stubborn. What if she runs on the wedding day?”
Nathan’s question pulled him from his thoughts.
“Honestly, even I thought you and Anya were actually involved. Plenty of people around you think the same,” Xander chimed in, timely.
Elian’s face instantly soured.
Nathan, never one to know when to stop, piled on. “Elian, Liana seems to think you’re trying to have your cake and eat it too.”
Elian’s glare could have frozen fire. The office fell into a dead silence. Any trace of lightness vanished.
That evening, Liana ate dinner out before heading home.
It was raining. Quentin drove her and dropped her off, holding an umbrella for her. “Watch your step.”
“Thanks.” Liana said.
Chloe and another female teacher were also in the car.
Quentin walked Liana to the building entrance. “See you tomorrow.”
“Mm, see you tomorrow.” Liana nodded, waved to the people in the car, and waited until it drove off before turning around.
Her heart nearly stopped.
Elian emerged from the shadows inside the lobby, his gaze cold and possessive.
Liana was so startled that she felt her soul leave her body. Regaining her composure, she kept her head down and walked toward the elevators.
Just as the doors opened, he stepped in beside her.
Sensing him next to her, Liana finally spoke, “It’s late. If you have something to say, say it here.”
“Can’t I come get my clothes?” Elian pushed his tongue back against his molars and answered flatly.
Liana fell silent, saying nothing more.
The elevator, while spacious, suddenly felt suffocating.
Elian was wearing a black button-down that made him look particularly formidable.
