Gerald shoved Liana to the ground, grabbed a potted succulent from the desk, and raised it to smash over

her head.

“What are you doing?!”

Quentin shoved the door open and rushed in, swiftly grabbing the pot from Gerald’s hand.

Lily immediately ran over, helping Liana up from where she’d been pushed against the wall. “Who are you people? Coming in here and attacking our teacher for no reason? Leave now, or I’ll call the police!”

“It’s not a crime if I kill her! Hmph, let’s go.”

Seeing more people arrive, Gerald knew his identity couldn’t be exposed, and he turned and left immediately.

Harriet looked at Liana’s swollen face and said, “Never say your father is dead again. Remember that.”

Lily saw the five-finger mark on Liana’s cheek and teared up with heartache. “Are you okay?”

Liana felt a sharp, cramping pain low in her belly. Beads of sweat formed on her forehead. Worried she’d hurt the baby, she forced the words out. “The hospital.”

That Evening, at the Locke Manor-

“Mr. Locke, the school staff said Mrs. Locke went out with Mr. Conrad this morning and hasn’t returned.”

“I see.”

Elian hung up the call from his assistant, Evan Scott, by quiet window. His brow was cold and sharp.

Today was Friday-the weekly family dinner.

It seemed she wanted a divorce so badly that she didn’t even care about the elders who doted on her anymore. Thinking this, Elian immediately dialed Nathan’s number.

“Elian, I’m out of—”

“Have the divorce agreement drafted and on my desk immediately.”

Elian knew he was in town. He hung up.

Half an hour later, Liana arrived at the Manor. She’d called, saying she had to work late. Rosalind said she’d wait for her. Liana couldn’t bear to disappoint Rosalind, who genuinely cared for her, so she came.

Getting out of the car, she saw his tall figure walking out Her heart fluttered. She silently scolded herself several times not to fall for him again before walking over.

Elian’s deep eyes held suspicion as he watched her approach. Liana walked up to him, the wedding ring back on her finger, her hand gripping her bag strap.

“Are you leaving?” Liana stood before him, seeing that he had his jacket, ready to go. She felt a secret wave of relief.

She wanted him to leave.

Being around him always made her emotions spiral out of control.

“Just stepped out for a smoke.”

Elian’s reply was cool as he looked at her.

“Mr. Locke! Please take an umbrella. It might rain tonight.” The butler hurried out after him.

Liana immediately understood he had been leaving. She lowered her head and went inside.

Elian was still staring at the spot where she’d stood until the butler prompted, “Mr. Locke?”

He sighed in frustration, looking at the butler. “Did I say I was leaving?”

“Weren’t… you?” The butler tried to remember. Elian hal been fiddling with his phone, then stood up abruptly, saying he had to leave early. But the moment Liana arrived, he changed his tune?

Elian started to go back inside, then paused. He called Nathan.

Nathan inwardly groaned. Ever since Elian found out about the divorce papers Liana had him draft, he’d been having nightmares. Now the phone rang again. He picked up with a shaky voice. “Mr. Locke? What more can I do for you?”

“You have a business trip tomorrow.”

“Huh?”

“And the day after.” Elian hung up.

Nathan was speechless. He got to travel for work again?

The butler didn’t know who Elian was talking to, but he felt he was rather tyrannical.

Rosalind led Liana to the dining room, chattering as they walked. “Liana, if you didn’t come, I couldn’t enjoy my meal! Could you come have dinner with me more often?”
