He was so little.

Inside. Elian had his suit pants rolled up, tidying as he went. Water spilled over the rim of the tub and spread across the floor.
“Duckie!” Theo pointed at the little yellow rubber duck floating in the bath.
Liana, still holding him. glanced into the tub. No wonder he remembered his bath. It’s all about that rubber duck.
“Give him to me.” Elian came over to take Theo.
Liana started to hand him over.
She was still in her high heels and trousers, the hems touching her shoes. Going in would mean getting soaked.
“I don’t want Daddy! I want ma’am to wash me!”
Theo shook his head, turning to cling tighter to Liana’s neck.
Standing in front of them, Elian sighed, helpless but amused. “Seems he’s glued to you.”
Liana felt a momentary daze, especially when she met his eyes.
God, those eyes. He could make a rock feel cherished.
“She’ll take her trousers off and then come to wash you. For now, let Daddy hold you to find your duckie, okay?”
Elian leaned in closer, tilting his head to coax Theo.
Theo understood. He released Liana and went into Elian’s arms.
“Roll up your pants legs. I’ll get you some slippers.”
“Okay.”
Liana found herself agreeing automatically, bending to roll up her trouser cuffs. Suddenly, her ears felt.
warm.
Bending over, she felt it. Not as easy as before.
She glanced unconsciously toward the bathroom.
Seeing Elian lower Theo into the tub with such gentle care sent another warm rush through her.
But she couldn’t.
She warned herself over and over. He can’t know.
If he truly trusted her tonight, he wouldn’t have let Any and Jett walk away so easily.
In her eyes, what Anya had done was criminal.

Elian settled Theo, then took a pair of slippers from a cabinet and placed them by her feet. He looked up at her. “How do you plan to do this?”
“Do what?”
“If you’re planning on getting in the tub, I’ll have someone bring you a change of clothes, he reminded her.
Liana just shook her head. “I’ll just help from the outside.”
“Fine.” Elian said, a thoughtful note in his voice..
Eventually, the water on the floor drained away.
By the tub, Liana sat on a small stool, playing with The and the duck.
Elian, sleeves rolled up, washed the little boy.
Yeah. Elian had obviously figured Theo was old enough now-and a boy shouldn’t still be getting bathed by his mom.
Theo was having a blast. Suddenly, he slapped the water, sending a splash right onto the front of Liana’s
blouse.
“Hey, none of that.” Elian said, a touch of sternness in his voice.
Theo froze, scared.
Worried he’d been frightened, Liana immediately leaned over, scooped up a handful of water, and tossed it directly at Elian.
Elian looked at her. his face full of hurt.
Liana scooped up another handful and splashed him again without mercy.
His shirt was already wet anyway.
But then…
“So you want a water fight? Come on.” Elian retaliated, splashing her back several times.
“Ah! Stop!” Liana tried to dodge, but after a few hits, she got competitive.
Theo suddenly giggled, joyfully splashing water upward, thoroughly drenching Elian’s shirt.
Elian laughed, a helpless sound, and splashed a little back at him.
Seizing the moment, Liana picked up a small plastic bucket by the tub, filled it, and poured the entire thing over Elian’s head.
Elian’s expression instantly cooled.
Yes, in all his life, no one had ever dared douse him like that.
Liana and Theo both stared at him, a little intimidated by the sudden icy aura. Until…
When the water finished dripping from his hair, a wicked grin spread across his face.
