“You don’t have to tell me how far you’d go to die for he. The result’s right in front of me,” Liana cut him off.

She didn’t want to hear his explanations anymore.

The process didn’t matter. The result was that when saving Anya, he could have lost his own life, and he still went ahead and did it.

That alone was enough to prove that he didn’t love her, Liana. He loved Anya.

Elian gazed at her cold, detached face, his eyes narrowing slightly. “So, no matter what I say, you won’t believe me anymore, right?”

Liana looked at him again, smiled like she’d let everything go, and said, “Except for anything about you loving me.”

“I never said I love you.” A chill crept into Elian’s eyes.

Liana’s smile became strained, but she nodded. “Right. You never did. My apologies for misspeaking. Anyway, you know what I mean. That stuff you said about not loving Anya-I don’t buy it.”

She was smiling, yet on the verge of tears. So she turned her back to him, forcing the tears that threatened to fall back down.

Her voice choked up as she asked, “Do you need me to say here tonight?”

“Yes.”

Elian’s expression was stern, and it took him a moment o utter the single word.

“I’ll sleep with Theo.”

With that, she left the bathroom.

The door closed from the inside, but Elian remained standing there, head bowed, staring at his own reflection in the polished floor tiles.

Late that night, a drizzle fell outside.

Liana, shivering and half-asleep, opened her eyes to see a dark figure by the bed. She jolted up in alarm, instinctively shielding Theo behind her.

“It’s me.”

“Elian?”

“The third condition. Wear your wedding ring until the divorce is finalized,” he said.

He left the hospital that very night. The next day, when Theo was discharged, the driver came to pick them

On Saturday, Lily came down with a high fever and couldn’t accompany her, so Chloe went with her instead.

On the drive, Chloe suddenly asked, “Have you ever thought about an abortion?”

Liana, who had been reviewing her students’ homework assignments on her phone, was taken aback but replied quickly, “No.”

“But you’re getting a divorce. Don’t you think raising a child alone will be incredibly hard? And it wouldn’t be fair to the child, growing up in a single-parent home! Chloe pressed.

“I grew up in a single-parent home. I never felt unhappy

Liana didn’t hesitate.

Chloe couldn’t help but glance at her.

Liana always carried an air of quiet confidence. Staring at her, Chloe suddenly grew hesitant.

“Are you pregnant?”

This time, Liana asked her.

“…Yes.”

Chloe admitted, her eyes instantly welling up.

Liana understood now why she’d asked that question. She looked at Chloe and said gently, “Whatever you keep it or not, think it through carefully.”

“I’m definitely not keeping it. I don’t have the confidence to raise a child alone, and I’m afraid every time I look at it, I’d be reminded of what a monster its father is

Chloe’s grip on the steering wheel tightened with hatred

Liana said nothing more.

She didn’t harbor that kind of deep hatred for Elian.

Looking down, she accidentally caught sight of the wedding ring on her finger. A wave of gloom washed over her, and she turned to stare out the window.

“Just thinking about that two-timing bastard and his lover in my bed makes me want to grab a knife and kill them both. But Mr. Chase told me I have to stay calm. I hurt them, I’d lose any advantage,” Chloe continued.

“Yeah, good for you for holding back.”

Unsure of what else to say, and seeing Chloe’s distress, ana offered simple encouragement.

“I still feel filthy. Like I dove headfirst into a pile of crap. Chloe described her own situation.

“Liana, if I decided to terminate the pregnancy while were out of town today, would you think I’m heartless?” Chloe asked when they stopped at a red light
