Chapter 203 The Lie Unveiled
But Liana’s stomach showed absolutely nothing.
For a while, she had genuinely believed the baby was already gone.
And now….
Elian’s deep eyes remained fixed on Liana. After a long moment, he spoke.
“Mrs. Locke, would you care to explain this to me?”
“I can…” Sensing the frozen air, Chloe instinctively raised her hand.

Elian ignored Chloe, his cold gaze locked on Liana. “If I recall correctly, you told me the pregnancy had been terminated.”
His tone wasn’t harsh, just his usual steadiness, but with an added layer of imposing intensity.
“Mr. Locke, that’s actually mine.”
Chloe cautiously raised her hand again, a quiet reminder.
Both Elian and Liana looked at her.
“I’m in the middle of a messy divorce. I didn’t want any extra complications, so I asked Liana to use her name for the appointment.”
Chloe explained, embarrassed but thorough.
Truthfully, Chloe was incredibly nervous, whether from the procedure or the lie.
If Mr. Locke ever finds out this is actually Liana’s file, will he have my head?
But there was no choice now.
Men were all scum. They were getting a divorce; she had to help Liana hide this.
“Is that true?”
Elian’s gaze swiftly returned to Liana, the question heavy with suppressed emotion.
He didn’t believe a single word of Chloe’s story.
This woman had lied to him.
He was certain of it now.
“Yes.”
“You don’t have to be so quick to admit…”
Elian tried to cut Liana off as soon as she spoke, but he was too late.
Looking into her resolute, detached eyes, he felt a sudden drop.

An inexplicable chill, colder than the winter air, seeped to his heart.
“Mr. Locke, what are you doing out of town with Miss Forrest? And at a hospital? Don’t tell me she’s pregnant too?” Chloe abruptly changed the subject.

“I just have a high fever, Liana. Elian and I ran into each other by coincidence. Please don’t get the wrong idea.” Anya offered, her voice tinged with concern, but her eyes as she looked at Liana were sharp as daggers.
Right then, she swore to herself. Whether Liana’s really pregnant or not, I’m not going to let her get off so easily.
“Coincidence or affair, who knows? All we see is you two sneaking off together out of town. What, are you carrying his baby and scared people in the city will call you out as a homewrecker? Is that why you’re here for a secret check-up?”
Chloe and Liana stepped out of the elevator. After her cold remark, she turned to Liana. “Let’s go. Don’t let this pair of cheaters spoil our sight.”
Liana said nothing more, lowering her head and walking a few steps with Chloe before stopping.
Chloe looked at her questioningly.
“The paper,” Liana whispered. “He still has it.”
It was the only copy, and she wanted to keep it.
Understanding, Chloe immediately turned back and snatched the printout from Elian’s hand. “Give that back. Men who betray their families don’t deserve to look at baby pictures.”
The elevator was filling up. Anya suddenly looked up at Elian with fragile weakness. “Elian, let’s go in.”
In silence, Elian guided her into the elevator and placed her in front of a doctor. “She has a high fever. Please see that she gets treatment.”
“Elian, where are you going?”
Anya watched in dismay as he stepped back out.
“To find Liana,” Elian replied.
“But…”
The elevator doors slid shut. Elian had already turned and was striding away.
The weather was surprisingly pleasant. Though Lily had texted that Alderidge was pouring rain, the sky in Kaelwick was clear and bright.
Once outside, Chloe leaned weakly on Liana. “I’m wiped You’ll have to drive us back.”
“Okay,” Liana agreed. There was no way she’d let Chloe drive in this state.
“How do you think those two ended up at the hospital together? Could Anya really be pregnant?” Chloe couldn’t resist the gossip.
