Chapter 205 A Supermarket of Memories

Chloe watched Elian, genuinely hoping in her heart that he was just misunderstood by everyone.

“Go on in.”

Liana didn’t want to discuss Elian further.

Feeling unwell herself, Chloe went inside.

Liana returned to the car. Elian got back into the driver seat, buckled his own seatbelt, and, seeing her fumble, leaned over to help with hers.

Caught off guard, Liana instinctively raised her hands, pressing back against the seat as she watched him.

Elian kept his head down, clicking the buckle into place before finally looking up at her. “Do you really have to be this guarded around your own husband?”

“Yes.”

Liana didn’t deny it.

Elian actually chuckled at her response.

He said, “You’re as stubborn as a mule.”

“Let’s just go to the courthouse and file for divorce.”

“Fine. But it has to be tomorrow,” he agreed, slowly pulling the car away from Chloe’s street.

Liana studied him seriously. “Why tomorrow?”

“Since we’re divorcing, I want to savor the memories on last time,” Elian said.

After the long drive back, he pulled into the underground parking garage of a large supermarket.

Liana looked at their surroundings, confused. It had been so, so long since they’d been to a place like this together.

“Mrs. Locke, you can hop out.”

He walked around the front of the car to her side, waiting quietly for her to get out.

Liana stepped out, then looked at him curiously. “What are we here to remember?”

“The first time we went grocery shopping together,” Eliam said, then reached for her hand again.

Liana looked down at his offered hand but firmly tucked both of hers into her coat pockets.

Elian watched the movement, glanced at her face-disappointed, yeah-but gave a wry smile.

He then decisively took her wrist, pulled her hand from her pocket, and laced his fingers tightly with hers.

Liana didn’t understand why he wanted to revisit this. But thinking it was the last time, and knowing she couldn’t talk him out of it, she reluctantly followed him inside.

Fortunately, needing a cart gave her an excuse. Liana stopped at the entrance. “I’ll get a cart.”

“Mm.”

Elian released her hand.

Liana secretly breathed a sigh of relief and hurried to grab a cart, gripping the handle tightly with both hands.

Elian watched silently, understanding her evasion but saying nothing, simply walking beside her as she pushed it.

“It’s getting chilly. How about chicken noodle soup for dinner?” Elian asked for her opinion in the produce

section.

“We’re still having dinner together?”

Liana stared at him, baffled.

“Of course. I want to eat your cooking one last time,” Elian said, holding up a large carrot as he spoke.

Liana couldn’t be bothered to argue. “Pick a smaller one We can’t finish a big one.”

“Alright.”

Elian swapped it for a smaller one.

Liana found a plastic bag and held it open, and he dropped the squash in.

“Sweetheart.”

A moment later, Elian suddenly called out, holding a huge pumpkin.

Liana reminded him, “We won’t eat much tonight. One dish is enough. Go get the celery.”

“We can eat it another day. You can have it yourself, or share it with friends?”

Elian still held the pumpkin-at least twenty pounds-up to her with one hand.

“They don’t really like pumpkin,” Liana replied.

“What about taking it to Grandma? I heard it lowers blood fat or something.”

“The Locke Manor has its own garden.”

They probably had a whole storage room full of various vegetables by now.

Elian thought about it and finally put the pumpkin back

But then he turned…

“Sweetheart…”

Liana had already pushed the cart towards the meat section. Elian called out to her again from behind.

She stopped, annoyed, and turned around. Sure enough, he was holding a large cabbage.
