Right at the school entrance, with students and teachers all around, the man pushed her into the back seat.

Inside sat another person-an elderly woman, Harriet.

Quentin happened to be driving out and saw Liana being forced into the car. He immediately pulled over, got out, and headed toward the vehicle.

“Liana, please, save your grandpa.” Harriet wiped her tears, pleading.

Liana saw who it was and went cold. “What’s wrong with him?”

Harriet trembled as she cried, “He needs a liver transplant.”

That one sentence laid out Gerald’s condition clearly.

Liana didn’t need to ask more. She only frowned. “You should be talking to doctors, not me.”

“No, Liana. You’re the only one who can save him now.””

Harriet suddenly grabbed Liana’s hand, looking at her with desperate, imploring eyes.

A cold understanding settled in Liana’s heart. She could guess the rest.

Quentin reached the car but was blocked by the driver, who had pushed Liana inside. Quentin didn’t argue; he simply took out his phone and dialed. “Get a few guys to the school entrance. Fast.”

Harriet continued, “Anya and Sean have already been tested, but their health isn’t ideal. Liana, I have no one else but you.”

“Me?”

Liana looked calmly at Harriet’s tear-streaked face, feeling not an ounce of pity.

She felt a chill, even a sense of absurdity.

She had never benefited from the Forrest family. If anything, because of them, she had been barred from certain career paths.

And now, Harriet was here, acting helpless.

“Yes, you. Just a small portion of your liver. The doctors pay you’re young, it can regenerate.”

Harriet, fearing her refusal, pressed on.

Liana gave a low laugh. “I’m not that young. Compared to Anya and Sean, I’m the older one.”

“You won’t save your own grandpa?”

Harriet’s eyes instantly turned cold and resentful.

Liana replied, “No, I won’t.”

“He’s your blood! How can you be so heartless?”

“Heartless? Fine, let it be heartless then.”

Liana couldn’t be bothered to explain. She turned to get out of the car.

“Liana, are you really going to make me beg you?”

Harriet grabbed her hand again, not letting her leave.

All Liana heard was Harriet guilting her.

It laid bare the ugliness of human nature.

Liana recalled the few times she’d met Gerald in her life Every time, it was either a slap, a punishment, or a tongue-lashing.

Now that they needed a donor, they wanted her?

Never mind that she was pregnant. Even if she weren’t, she would never donate to him.

“Even if I were dying, I wouldn’t donate to him.”

Liana’s voice was quiet but final.

Hatred pooled in Harriet’s eyes.

Liana turned to leave, but Harriet tightened her grip.

“Please let go,” Liana said, looking at her.

In that moment, Harriet made a decision. She would take Liana to the hospital by force.

From every angle, forcing Liana to donate was the most logical choice.

But just as she was about to signal her driver to leave, she noticed they were surrounded by teachers and students.

Quentin, Lily, and Chloe stood outside the car door where Liana sat. The driver blocked the window, facing them down.

No one was backing down, but no one was attacking either.

However, the situation left Harriet with no choice but to release her.

“Liana, you won’t even save your own flesh and blood. You’ll pay for this,” Harriet hissed the cruel words, then flung Liana’s hand away from her.

Liana pushed the car door open. The driver outside turned, finally stepping aside.

Harriet had instructed him on the way not to let her go easily.

“Move it.”
