Elian’s car was parked diagonally across from the school. He spotted Quentin’s car the moment it arrived.

Liana was in the passenger seat. Through the window, he could see them talking and laughing, which was a real eyesore.

So, the moment the ink dried, she couldn’t wait to move in with him?

He dialed a number, holding the phone to his ear.

It rang forever before she picked up.

Quentin opened the car door for her at the school parking lot. She nodded in thanks, then answered her phone. “Hello?”

Puzzled, Liana pulled the phone away to look at the screen. It was definitely connected, but there was no sound. Thinking something was wrong, she said, “Elian?”

Then, from outside, a loud bang! The sound of a collision.

She looked up, her gaze shooting toward the street beyond the school gates.

Elian…

A buzzing filled Liana’s head. She slowly lowered the phone, then turned and started to run.

Quentin, who had been looking outside, was instantly drawn by Liana’s sudden movement.

She was sprinting toward the school gates, completely without reason, toward that man…

A crowd was already gathering. Liana pushed her way through.

Lucas, dazed, was opening the driver’s door to get out when he heard a familiar voice.

“Elian! Elian, are you okay?”

Elian was in the back seat, his own head ringing.

He’d accidentally slammed into the door frame.

“Elian? Elian!”

“Move.”

Elian looked up, his vision blurry, but he recognized her. He shoved her away, then slumped back into the seat, still disoriented.

“Mrs. Locke.”

Lucas, at least, saw clearly who she was.

Liana wasn’t angry at being pushed. She turned to look at Lucas outside, quickly got out, pushed him into the passenger seat, and shut the door.

“Please make way-we need to get to the hospital,” she said to the gathering crowd, as the driver of the other

car emerged, clearly unhurt.

But that man blocked her path. “Hey, you can’t just drive off after hitting someone!”

“Just a moment.”

Liana got back behind the wheel, started the car, and dialed Nathan’s number on her phone.

Nathan hesitated when he saw her name, but considering her still-uncertain status with Elian, he answered. He heard her speak immediately.

“School gate. Elian was in a collision. Unclear who’s at fault. Come handle it. Now.”

She explained quickly and hung up.

The other driver, seeing how swiftly she acted, frowned suspiciously. “You’re not trying to scam me, are you?”

“This car is one of a kind. Memorize the plate. If no one shows up to deal with this, call the police immediately.”

Liana looked up at him, then began to drive away.

“Hey, lady! Think you’re special ’cause you got a nice car? One of a kind, my ass…”

“Sir, are you a parent? I’ll handle this with you now.”

Quentin suddenly stepped forward. Recognizing the school dean, the man followed him at once.

Elian heard Quentin’s voice vaguely but clearly enough to identify it. Anger surged.

“Liana, get the hell away from me!” he roared.

Liana ignored him, driving straight to Locke Medical Center.

She’d called ahead. Medical staff were waiting as she pulled up.

Lucas had come to his senses now. He shook his head and said, “I’m fine. Just need to rest a bit.”

Then everyone looked at Elian.

He hadn’t been sleeping much lately and had been drinking heavily. The impact had nearly knocked him out, but a stubborn fury kept him conscious. He pushed himself out of the car.

No one dared get too close, but Liana immediately stepped forward.

“Don’t you dare-”

Elian glared at her, a threat on his lips, but halfway through, his knees buckled.

“…Come here.”

He dropped to his knees with a thud. Liana moved on instinct, catching his arms with both hands.

The wind was strong. His head rested against her stomach as he muttered stubbornly, “Don’t touch me”
