“Liana, how are things over there? Do you need any help?”

“Thank you for your concern, Mr. Conrad. My wife is currently asleep in my arms.

Elian’s voice was low and raspy.

Hearing the familiar voice. Liana turned over, intending to go back to sleep. But she caught a familiar scent and instinctively opened her eyes.

She thought it was a dream, but when she looked up and saw him lying beside her, she immediately sat up. “What are you doing here?”

“Quentin called to ask if you needed help.”

Elian ignored her question, answering only what he wanted to.

Hearing Quentin’s name, Liana remembered he’d been handling the accident that morning and immediately reached for her phone.

But Elian, who had offered it, suddenly pulled it back, his gaze cold. “You spent the night with Quentin last night.”

“What the hell are you talking about?” Liana questioned

Elian narrowed his eyes, challenging her. “Dare to do it but not admit it?”

“I was at the… It’s none of your business. Give me my phone.”

She almost told him she’d slept at their first home, but then thought better of it.

Less trouble this way. We’re divorcing. Can’t afford more complications.

She just reached for the phone.

Elian leaned against the headboard, holding the phone high. Liana, trying to grab it, ended up half in his lap. He immediately wrapped his arms around her.

Liana snapped back to reality, her body tingling from his hold.

She looked down, seeing their chests were mere inches apart, and immediately tried to pull back.

But Elian had already tightened his grip and swiftly flipped her over.

After a moment of dizziness, she found herself pinned irmly beneath him on the bed.

His eyes looked murderous.

For some reason, Liana felt completely paralyzed.

He said, “Let me remind you. Although we’ve signed the papers, you are still legally my wife for the next month. If you want to go running off with other men, you’ll have to wait at least thirty days.”

“…Got it.”

Elian hadn’t expected such meek compliance. It felt like an admission that she had been with Quentin.

His grip on her tightened. “So you’re just admitting it?”

“Admitting what?”

Liana felt they were on completely different pages.

Why can’t I understand what he’s saying?

“Did he pin you down on a bed like this last night?”

Liana frowned, shocked by his train of thought.

But looking at the jealous anger blazing in his arrogant eyes, she found herself at a loss for words.

They were getting a divorce.

These next twenty-nine days needed to pass peacefully. Then they’d go get the final decree, and it would all be over.

She didn’t know how long she’d slept, but soon another call came in.

Elian’s phone vibrated in his trouser pocket.

With a look of unwilling, frustrated reluctance, he finally released her, rolling off the bed with a huff. “Liana, sometimes I wish I’d never met you.”

Before Liana could utter a word, he had already pulled his phone from his pocket and answered.

She couldn’t hear what was said on the other end, but he snapped, furious.

“My wife’s liver? Are all the Forrests dead or something?

“Even if the entire Forrest family dropped dead, I’m still breathing. If you dare try to take a piece of my wife, be prepared for the entire Forrest clan to pay the price. Go ahead. Try me.”

After finishing, Elian gripped the phone so tightly his knuckles turned white.

Liana had been about to make her escape, but hearing his words, she froze.

She sat behind him, her gaze fixed unconsciously on his rigid back.

Soon after, he got up and left without needing her to ask

Yeah, not a single question about Gerald wanting her to donate part of her liver.

He’d heard about it from somewhere. Anyway…

A wildly unrealistic thought popped into Liana’s head.

Did he show up at the school today because he was secretly protecting her?

But…
