His Hidden Family My Ruined Marriage (Liana) novel Chapter 236

Chapter 236 The Daily-Rate Bodyguard

The man stood his ground.

Liana understood-he was here to force her compliance

“Anya’s lackey just had his arms broken. Want to be next”

Nathan’s voice cut through the tension as he sauntered over.

He carried a dangerous, casual energy that was somehow more intimidating than an outright threat.

The man hesitated but remained unmoving-until another, far more imposing figure appeared. Reluctantly, he lowered his arm.

“Mrs. Locke, a call from Mr. Locke.”

A tall, broad-shouldered man stepped to Liana’s side and handed her his phone.

Puzzled, she took it and held it to her ear.

Elian’s low voice came through. “You okay?”

“…Yes.”

Liana lowered her eyes and forced out a small sound.

Elian added, “This guy is one of the top bodyguards in the country. He’ll protect you until our divorce is final.”

“Thank you.”

“Don’t. I fronted his fee for you. Figure out how you’re going to pay me back.”

Elian stood up on the towering roof as he said it.

“Oh, and his rates are charged by the day. Just so you know.” With that reminder, he hung up, a calculating gleam in his eye.

Liana stared at the phone’s dark screen for a long moment.

“Lucian. Mrs. Locke, this way.”

The expensive, day-rate bodyguard was also a man of few words.

No one dared stop them now.

Lily and Quentin watched her approach. Quentin hung back, but Lily rushed forward. “Are you alright?”

“I’m fine,” Liana said. Her mind, however, was wholly occupied with one pressing thought-he was charged by the day.

Liana finally arrived at the Locke Manor. The driver had changed from Lucas to Lucian.

The car had barely stopped before Theo broke free from Linda’s hand at the doorway and came running.

“Ma’am!”

“Theo!” She saw him and quickly got out, meeting him Halfway on the path.

“I missed you,” he said in his sweet, soft voice as she knelt to hug him.

“Best to try it,” the assistant gently insisted.

“Yes, go try it on. Your complexion has been so radiant lately-we wouldn’t want it not to fit!” Linda added playfully.

“Alright,” Liana conceded. She followed the staff upstairs

Elian walked into the living room, setting the box down

“Mr. Locke, you’re back,” the butler said, having been distracted by the dress.

“Yes. Wash these, please. Liana loves them.” Elian’s gaze was already fixed on the figure heading upstairs.

“Right away.” The butler took the box.

An attendant took Elian’s coat. He sank into a sofa, picked up an untouched coffee from the table, and took a leisurely sip.

“Finished with your dinner meeting so early?” Linda asked.

“Mm.” He took another sip.

“Oh dear, that was Liana’s cup,” Rosalind remarked, a thoughtful glint in her eye.

Elian glanced down at the cup but made no move to put it down. Instead, he took another deliberate drink. as if sharing her cup was the most natural thing in the world.

Linda knew exactly why her son was acting that way, but she suddenly got curious. “Liana doesn’t seem to be into coffee lately. When she first moved in, she’d sample every kind we brewed.”

“You’re right,” Rosalind mused, tapping her chin. “The last few times she’s visited, she’s hardly touched her coffee.”
