His Hidden Family My Ruined Marriage (Liana) novel Chapter 24

Chapter 24 The Prey

She hadn’t expected Elian to be so resolute, just leaving her with these men.

She sat pressed against the wall, not out of calmness, bu because she was numb with pain.

Seeing someone approach, she instinctively tried to move, but could only curl tighter into herself.

A sudden, sharp fear gripped her.

So many strange, vicious faces.

There was another life inside her. If she died, it would be two deaths.

Liana watched as the leader cut the rope around her ankles. The rope around her wrists was quickly cut next. She couldn’t hesitate. She kicked out with all her night at the man trying to grab her ankle, twisted, and scrambled to get up and run.

“Where are you going? We’ll send you back when we’re done having our fun.” The leader yanked her back, slapped the same cheek that was still swollen from Gerald’s blow the day before, and then ripped open the collar of her blouse.

“Mr. Locke doesn’t want you anymore. But we do. Be a good girl and take it. Best if you cooperate. We all like wild ones. Make us happy, and you’ll be home soon

“Let’s see what a big shot’s woman tastes like.”

“He threw her away. Let’s give her some real loving. Look at that skin.”

The men leered at her with vulgar comments.

Humiliation washed over Liana like a flood. Feeling a hand on her calf was like a leech burrowing under her skin. She could no longer suppress it. Nausea surged, and she screamed, “Don’t touch me! Don’t!”

Smack!

Another brutal slap.

“Bitch! Elian doesn’t want you. Who do you think you are?” the leader roared, his hand closing around her throat.

Liana grabbed his wrist, trying to pry it away. She couldn’t breathe, couldn’t speak.

Her legs were pinned. A knife swiftly sliced through her pants.

“Boss, get her face. I’ll record it and post it online. Migh even make some money.” Someone raised a phone, pointing the camera at her.

She didn’t know if this was how it felt for everyone, but error scorched her scalp. All her blood seemed to freeze and congeal in one place. She curled tighter, tear streaming down her face.

She suddenly, clearly realized she had lost everything.

Her mother. Elian.

And soon, her life would slowly fade too.

The calm, the dead stillness she’d felt when he chose to leave with Anya vanished completely. A sudden, searing hatred burned inside her.

Though she didn’t even know who she hated more.

Her father chose to abandon her before she was even born. At eight, when she finally found her grandparents’ house, they called her a bastard and threatened her with juvenile hall.

Later, she finally understood. She and her mother depended on each other. And then…

It seemed her entire life had been one long series of abandonments.

She didn’t understand why life was so cruel to her. She wanted to scream, to rage, but she couldn’t move.

She felt the fabric on her body disappearing. She felt the grimy hands of men touching her. Tremors wracked her body. The nausea became unbearable, and she vomited.

The leader jerked his hand back as she threw up. When she finished, he choked her neck even tighter. “You bitch! Daring to think we’re dirty? I’ll show you.”

Liana tried to fight, but her wrists were immediately pinned down by two other men.

“Boss, could she be pregnant?” one man suddenly spoke up, a thought occurring to him.

“Oh? Pregnant? Then she’s not calling us dirty. Even better.”

“Yeah. Never had a pregnant one before.”

Their talk grew cruder. They started unbuttoning their ants.

The last shreds of Liana’s clothing were cut away. The simple white cotton of her underwear was exposed.

“A rich man’s wife is different. Skin so soft and tender, turns red at a touch.”

A man spoke, then bent to bite her neck.

Liana was pressed into her own vomit, but she still felt sick.

No one noticed the figure who had walked back in. They were all focused on their prey.

By the doorway, near a pile of discarded bricks, lay a rusted steel rebar. Someone picked it up slowly.

“Don’t touch me… Don’t…” Liana didn’t want to die. She wanted to live.
