Chapter 242 A Marriage Without Trust
Elian was stunned.
She thought the worst of him.
He was her husband. Once, she’d washed his clothes, cooked his meals, followed him around with adoring eyes, grinning like a fool, and saying, “Elian, I really hit the jackpot.”
Ha!
And now?
“That’s because-”
“Forget it. A marriage without trust is built on sand. We’ll file for divorce right afte tomorrow.” the ceremony
A heavy, suffocating pressure settled in Liana’s chest. Her vision blurred, but she kept her eyes on his cold, disappointed face.
He seemed so let down by her.
He…
Well, as he said, it was all just sand now.
Better to get the papers and leave.
She was truly exhausted, desperate for a quiet place to recover.
This marriage of theirs started so beautifully.
Like a novel with a brilliant opening that completely falls apart at the end.
She said nothing more, her fingers brushing against the two rings on her left hand. Instinctively, she started to pull at them but stopped, her fist clenching tightly before slowly relaxing.
Elian’s gaze locked onto her hand. He hadn’t realized he was holding his breath until she let go of the rings.
If she had actually taken them off…
A wave of relief allowed him to breathe again, unnoticed.
“If there’s really a wedding for us tomorrow… a wedding for me and you, I don’t want to leave from the Forrest Villa. Could it be from Roy’s place?”
When she said “us,” something snagged in her chest. That word felt too intimate for them now. She corrected herself and asked his opinion.
“Consider it done. I’ll have people set it up immediately Elian said after a moment, finally noticing the red rim of her eyes.
His fingers flexed, and his tone lost some of its earlier edge.
“I won’t take up more of your time.” Liana nodded and sood to leave.
But the emotional toll of their argument hit her. She rose too quickly, a wave of dizziness making her sway. She had to clutch the back of the sofa to steady herself efore sinking back down.
Elian’s first thought was that it was a ploy, but the sudden pallor of her face alarmed him. “What’s wrong?”
“Blood sugar’s low.”
“You didn’t eat lunch?”
“I did.”
Anger could do that too, but she didn’t elaborasy
What did it matter? Their problems were already an unsolvable mess. A few more wouldn’t hurt.
