Chapter 243 If Tomorrow Truly Was Her Wedding
“Yeah. Don’t forget we’re getting the divorce decree the day after tomorrow,” Liana couldn’t resist adding.
The momentary softness in Elian’s heart instantly refroze into permafrost.
He looked at her, his irritation growing. Maybe a divorces for the best. At least I won’t have to endure this constant humiliation.
“How could I forget? I’ve realized something lately,” he said with a cold laugh. “The person I liked was always the version of you I imagined. The real you is nothing like her.”
Liana was puzzled. “The version you imagined? What was she like?”
“Soft, seductive. Knew all the tricks. Could bend her whole body for me.”
Well, that certainly was different. She wasn’t some seductress.
But she didn’t think she was that bad either.
In their good moments, he’d been insatiable, murmuring things like wanting to die a happy man in her arms.
He’d come home and practically devour her, their passion leaving traces all over the house.
But she wouldn’t argue. “If I’m so disappointing, why don’t you let go faster?”
“Aren’t I? You’ll have your freedom the day after tomorrow,” He said it flat.
Liana stared at the hand he still had clamped around her wrist.
Only then did Elian notice he was still holding her. He let go fast, like he was annoyed. “By the way, Lucian’s fees are charged by the hour.”
Liana was speechless. She wanted to snap that she didn need a bodyguard, but fear held her back.
Fine. She’d just take advantage where she could.
It wouldn’t be the first time.
Thinking of how he’d returned the three million dollar to Roy, she felt he wasn’t entirely bad.
Maybe they were just fundamentally incompatible.
“I really need to go. If there’s a wedding tomorrow, I have a lot to prepare,” she said, reminding him as he seemed reluctant to let her leave.
If tomorrow truly was her wedding, she would muster every ounce of spirit.
Even if it was just a fleeting dream.
Even if it were just a moment.
She would be a beautiful bride.
“Just put on the gown. Leave the rest to me,” he said,
“How is that possible? Should I walk down the aisle with puffy eyes? Unless it’s a wedding with just the two of us,” she retorted.
His heart gave a strange, soft flutter. He couldn’t help looking at her again.
Liana realized she was saying too much and quickly looked down. “I really have to go.”
“This is the first time we’ve ever discussed wedding details,” he remarked softly.
She remained silent, head bowed. She knew it was the first.
Inside, a bitter taste flooded his mouth. He felt she was eliberately twisting the knife.
What a cruel woman.
Cutting all ties so cleanly, so indifferent to how he felt.
When was the last time she showed any concern for him?
The brief warmth of discussing the wedding vanished, replaced by this fresh stab within minutes.
But he wouldn’t show it. His face remained neutral. “I’ll have someone take care of it immediately.”
“Remember, it has to be affordable. Please.”
With that, she pulled her hand free from his warm grasp and stood to leave.
Yes, she had to go. If she stayed, she’d start overthinking again.
That handsome face, those deep eyes, those thin lips….
Well, just by sitting there and lifting his eyes slightly, he had her completely spellbound.
After she left, Elian immediately called Evan. “Buy a small apartment near her university abroad.”
“Huh?” Evan was clearly stunned.
“Are you deaf?” Elian’s tone was impatient.
“But we just-”
