Chapter 30 The Paternity Doubt
Lily started muttering again.
Liana took another look at Theo’s hair-it was the same blonde as Anya’s.
“He doesn’t look like Elian either, huh!”
Lily found it stranger the longer she looked. Suddenly, she gasped in shock.
“What?” Liana asked, puzzled.

“What if this kid is actually Anya’s son with some other guy? She broke up with the guy, then came back and pinned it on Elian?”
Lily’s imagination went wild.
Liana thought about it, then studied Theo more carefully. She told Lily, “Elian’s not a fool. He’d know if it was his own son or not.”
“Hey, a paternity test would settle it, right? I’ll pluck a few strands of this little boy’s hair, and you get a few of Elian’s,” Lily immediately proposed.
“Elian dotes on him so much, he must have done a paternity test already. Not all kids look exactly like their
parents.”
Liana figured a shrewd man like Elian would never make a mistake about something as serious as a child. He must have had the test done as soon as Anya brough the boy back.
“Fair point. Still, I’ll bet a hundred bucks the kid isn’t his
Lily thought about Elian’s cunning, tricky nature and had to admit Liana had a point. Still, looking at Theo, she just felt he wasn’t Elian’s son.
Liana listened with a helpless smile, then changed the subject. “Are you staying for lunch? I can order takeout you like.”
“Nah, you eat by yourself. I’m going on a blind date today,” Lily sighed, sounding resigned.
Liana said, “Good luck.”
“Hope so. My mom said if I fail again this time, she’s disowning me and kicking me out to fend for myself.”
Lily had been living quite happily at home these years-no worries about food or shelter, everything taken care of by her parents. She really didn’t want to move out.
So, she had no choice but to go along with these blind dates.
They chatted a bit more. Seizing a moment when Liana was distracted, Lily quietly plucked two strands of Theo’s hair. Reminding Liana to take care of herself, she then left.
After she was gone, the apartment grew quiet again. The fell asleep not long after.
The doorbell rang. Afraid of waking Theo, Liana hurrie to answer it.
“Mrs. Locke, Mr. Locke asked me to bring Theo’s formula and a change of clothes, just in case he doesn’t

make it to the bathroom in time.”
It was Evan, holding a large pile of bags.

“Is Anya still unconscious? Don’t they have a nanny at the house in Westhaven Estates?”
Liana didn’t understand and didn’t want to accept the things Evan brought.
“The nanny had a family emergency and went back to her hometown for a while. As for whether Ms. Forrest is awake, I don’t know. Mr. Locke has already gone for a meeting. He probably won’t be free to pick up Theo until this evening,” Evan explained earnestly.
“He went to a meeting?”
Evan replied, “Yes, he left an hour ago.”
He wasn’t staying at the hospital with Anya?
Anya was so badly hurt. He looked like he’d make me pay with my life if anything happened to her.
But then again, maybe Anya was out of danger now, so he wasn’t as angry with her.
Still, this child couldn’t stay here. She looked at Evan. “So, no one else usually takes care of him? I don’t know how to handle kids. Evan, could you do the honor?”
“Me? I’m a single guy-I know even less about kids! Besides, I have more important tasks. I really have to go.”
Evan quickly set the bags down by the sofa in the living room and made a dash for it.
If he dared take care of Theo, his boss would probably fire him!
Watching him flee, Liana sighed helplessly. She closed the door and went back inside. To her surprise, among the pile of bags, she spotted a few men’s suits and immediately frowned.
Elian’s jackets?
Why bring those here?
Looking more closely inside, she even found clean underwear. Liana’s mind buzzed with shock.
Soon, her phone rang. Seeing it was Elian, she answered quickly. “Are you done with your meeting?”
“Mid-session break. Evan took a few of my things to your place. Don’t overthink it-he misunderstood. I’ll take them when I come to pick up Theo later.”
He reminded her politely, his tone mild.
He didn’t bring up Anya fainting again.
