His Hidden Family My Ruined Marriage (Liana) novel Chapter 89

Chapter 89 The Lemon and the Lesson

“Swallow it.”

Another command from Elian.

This time, even Nathan and Xander were stunned.

Jett tried to look up. “Elian, it’s… dirty.”

“No?”

Elian’s tone was deceptively calm, almost gentle, but it brooked no argument.

Finished

Jett shoved the whole, soggy lemon wedge into his mouth. It was the first time in his life he’d swallowed one whole. He mentally cursed a blue streak.

Elian’s gaze was a clear threat. If you don’t, I’ll turn you inte lemon pickle.

“And from now on, you don’t touch anything with lemon in it. Understand?”

“Why, Elian?”

Jett was on the verge of tears.

He liked sour things. A lot of good food needed lemon. And he’d just eaten a piece from the trash!

“Because you don’t deserve it,” Elian stated it as a simple fact, his composure unshaken.

Nathan silently vowed to treat lemons with newfound respect.

Xander simply said, “If we don’t leave now, we won’t be able to.”

The rain outside was a deluge.

Elian glanced at the window and slumped back on the chaise. “I’m not going back.”

Going home now would just prove to her I can’t live without her.

Jett, smarting from the “you don’t deserve it” insult, saw his chance.

While Elian wasn’t looking, he quickly sent a text to Anya, “Elian’s at the club. Staying the night.”

Anya, already in her room at home, saw the message and immediately got up.

Theo slept soundly beside her, but she didn’t care. She threw on a pretty dress and left.

Back at the club, Elian tossed and turned on the chaise for half an hour before finally getting up.

Xander and Nathan were back on the couch, drinking. They watched him grab his jacket.

“Thought you were staying. Where are you going?”

“Going home.” Elian was already out the door.

Jett stared, his long lashes fluttering in shock.

Nathan glanced at Jett’s crestfallen face. “You texted Anya, didn’t you?”

Jett slumped over his drink.

Jett, stop trying to push Anya on him. And be polite to Liana. It’s for your own good.” Xander added.

“But Anya’s crazy about him. Like, dying for him.” Jett mumbled, looking lost.

“But Elian’s crazy about Liana. Like, dying for her, Nathan said, swirling his glass with a sigh.

Even a simple guy knew you couldn’t force love.

Elian, who had driven his sports car, swapped it for his SUV before heading back.

The city was being pummeled by rain. His vehicle crep slowly through the gates of the Locke Manor.

Meanwhile. Anya’s car broke down on the road. She slammed the steering wheel. “Even this piece of junk is against me!”

The next morning at the Manor, Liana drifted in that warm, comfortable space between sleep and waking. She snuggled deeper into the warmth.

A familiar, masculine scent of sandalwood and citrus-not her own-filled her senses. Her eyes flew open.

A tanned. muscular chest filled her vision. She tried to pull back the hand that was, out of habit, tucked inside his robe, but it was pinned.

She flushed, mortified. After a moment, she whispered “I fell asleep.”

“Hmm.”

Elian’s arm was under her neck, holding her comfortably. He let out a soft, amused sound as he watched her blush.

Hmm?

Liana couldn’t decipher that single syllable.

Nervous and flustered, she couldn’t bring herself to meet his gaze right away. She tried to pull out of his arms, but he held her-leaving her no choice but to murmur. “I need to get up.”

Elian immediately released her.

Though confused by his unusually good mood, she quickly withdrew her hand from inside his robe and sat

It was a habit-when they cuddled, her hand always found its way under his clothes.

She pushed the awkwardness down. Only after she sat up did she dare glance at him.

Elian lay on his side, watching her calmly, a warm, genuine smile on his face
