Chapter 90 Get It First, Then We’ll Talk
Elian barged into the bathroom the moment she was done.
“Are you still in touch with him?” His question was sharp.
“Hey!” she yelled before he could finish, hastily pulling up her pants,
She marched over, furious. “You can’t just barge in when I’m using the bathroom!”
Elian felt a twinge of embarrassment himself. Even as husband and wife, this morning felt different. He realized he’d been rash.
“But are you?” The question was too important to let go
“You already knew. We’re in the same alumni chat.”
She was confused but explained automatically.
He used to know her phone password. She’d even pointed out which contact was her ex. They hadn’t spoken privately in over two years.
“Has he contacted you recently?” Remembering the time when she had no secrets from him soothed him slightly, but he had to know.
“No. And what if he did? After I brush my teeth, I’m asking Linda for the marriage certificate. We’re getting divorced today.”
She shot him an annoyed look. He’d crossed a line.
He had no right to police her contacts anymore.
Only then did alarm bells truly go off in Elian’s head. Seeing her absolute determination, he said coldly. “Get it first. Then we’ll talk.”
“I will.”
Her voice was firm, but a sliver of doubt crept in.
Elian left, fuming. He leaned against the wall outside the bathroom, as was his habit, his anger growing.
Last night, after he’d quietly slipped into bed, she’d rolled right into his arms the moment he touched her.
He’d been so pleased he’d forgotten-asleep, she was an angel; awake, she was…
The thought of “divorce today” made him grit his teeth For the first time, he didn’t wait for her. He went downstairs.
“Where’s Mrs. Locke?” he asked, not seeing Linda.
“She’s been in the kitchen since early,” a maid replied.
Curious, he headed to the kitchen.
A rich, savory smell hit him as he entered.

“If she asks for the marriage certificate, tell her you lost it.”
Too preoccupied to be suspicious, he dropped the instruction and turned to leave.
Linda couldn’t help calling after him, “You told her I have it?”
Before he could answer, Liana came down the stairs. He gave her one look and walked off.
Liana headed straight for the kitchen. “Linda, Elian mentioned you’re keeping our marriage certificate. M I have it, please?”
Her request was polite.
Elian, hearing her, stopped in his tracks.
A maid nearby asked. “Mr. Locke, is everything alright
Linda glanced out. You little brat. Making your mom the lain.
“Oh, yeah, it’s with me. Elian just gave it to me recently I’ll get it for you after breakfast.”
“Okay. Thank you. Linda.” Liana was visibly relieved.
Linda, decisive by nature, didn’t press further, which also eased Liana’s mind.
Elian, however, felt a jolt of panic. He hurried back upstairs.
David, having just finished dressing, came out of his room, adjusting his cuffs. He saw his son rummaging through their belongings and couldn’t help asking, curious, “What are you looking for?”
The marriage certificate,” Elian answered without thinking.
David chuckled. remembering when Linda had brought it home. He played dumb. “Why do you need our marriage certificate?”
Elian stopped, stood up, and gave his father a deeply grieved look.
He’d never been able to hide anything from David.
“Your mom keeps it in the basement vault. With her jewelry.”
David, taking pity, gave him the clue.
Elian stood there, expression darkening, his brow fur wed tight.
“Sir, breakfast will be ready in ten minutes, the butler announced from the doorway.
