Liana glanced at him and immediately grew afraid he might read her condition from her face alone. She quickly lowered her gaze and, with obvious reluctance. began to unbutton her shirt cuff.

Elian walked over and sat down in a single armchair nearby, quietly observing, not interrupting.

Suddenly, a pleasant ringtone broke the silence.

Liana’s raised wrist immediately dropped. “Sorry, I need to take this. Might be the school.”

Both Rosalind and Earl waited patiently. It was Quentin

“You’d better get to school right now. Two of your students beat each other bloody. Their parents are already on their way to the hospital.”

“Which two? I’m on my way.” Liana replied, her worry spiking.

She wanted to ask more, but suddenly remembered the elders present. She quickly ended the call, planning to ask for details on the way.

She stood up. “Mr. Nelson, Grandma, two of my students have been in a serious fight and are injured. I’m their homeroom teacher-I have to go right now. Let’s reschedule the check-up for another day.”

Not daring to delay, she turned to leave.

“Wait a moment.”

Roy suddenly leaned forward and took her wrist.

At the spot where her pulse throbbed, Liana immediately felt a wave of unease. Her heart began to pound wildly.

Rosalind held her breath, watching intently. Roy soon released her wrist and smiled.

“Go on, hurry along.”

“Elian, go drive your wife,” Rosalind instructed.

Elian gave Roy a thoughtful look, then stood to follow Lana.

Liana’s heart was hammering chaotically in her chest. Just what I need-another crisis before I get the marriage certificate.

But right now, nothing mattered except her students.

When her wrist was grabbed again, she jumped, startled Turning, she saw it was Elian holding her. She relaxed slightly and whispered, “You’re driving me?”

“I can get us there faster,” Elian stated simply.

Liana didn’t argue this time. He was right.

As soon as the pair left the room, Rosalind turned back agerly. “Well?”

Roy squinted his eyes, as if carefully confirming his assessment of Liana’s condition.

He shook his head slowly. “Not great.”

“I asked you if she’s pregnant, you old fool. Don’t beat around the bush with me,” Rosalind pressed.

Just then, the others emerged from the dining room. Hearing Rosalind’s blunt question, they all pretended not to hear.

Only Earl commented dryly, “Roy, you were lucky you never married her.”

“Yeah, I was. Roy replied with a cryptic smile.

“Mr. Nelson, is Liana pregnant or not?” Linda asked directly.

Hmm, she’s definitely…”

Elian’s sports car hadn’t even come to a complete stop at the entrance of the hospital before Liana unbuckled her seatbelt.

“Thanks for the ride.

No more words were exchanged; there wasn’t time.

Quentin was waiting for her at the hospital entrance. Seeing her, he strode forward to meet her, and they hurried inside together as he briefed her.

Elian’s car remained idling at the curb. He sat quietly, watching them walk side-by-side into the outpatient building.

By the time Liana and Quentin reached the upper floor. Lily and Chloe had already been apologizing to the parents for a while.

“Sorry, I’m late. How are the children? I’m their homeroom teacher,” Liana said, immediately leading with an apology as she approached.

“What good is ‘sorry’? What kind of teacher are you? If the students in your class don’t get along, why didn’t you have them switched to different classes? If my son loses an arm or a leg, I’m telling you, I’ll make sure you end up in a wheelchair myself, you hear me?”

The father of the injured boy was tall, burly, and furious. As he spoke, he jabbed a finger towards Liana’s chest.

Quentin immediately stepped in front of her. “Talk if you’ve got something to say, but don’t lay a hand on

anyone.”

“What are you gonna do about it? People like you, who can’t even take care of your own students, shouldn’t be allowed to teach!” the man retorted, his finger waving threateningly again.

Knowing Liana was pregnant, Lily and the others watched with their hearts in their throats, terrified she might be shoved and have a miscarriage.

“Hey! What’s going on here?”
