Chapter 95 Can’t I Even Thank You?
“Yeah. What’s the door code?” Elian’s voice came through the phone.
“You at the door?” Liana asked back.
“Yes.”
“Wait a second.”
Finished
Liana hung up immediately. Giving him the code was cut of the question, but she could open the door for
him.
Elian heard the lock disengage but didn’t step inside.
He instinctively pushed the door shut again and redialed.
Seeing his call, Liana answered, puzzled. “Come in.”
“You didn’t open the door. You used your phone remote? Maybe it’s glitchy. Just give me the code; I’ll try it myself,” Elian said in a low, convincing tone.
Liana felt a flicker of suspicion. In less than two second, she replied, “I’ll open it again. If it still doesn’t work, you can come get him tomorrow.”
Elian started to say more, but Liana had already hung up.
The door opened a moment later.
His deep, cunning eyes fixed on the sliver of light from the doorway. He held his breath.
If he just walked in now, he still wouldn’t know the code. But if he didn’t go in…
He missed her.
The whiskey he’d downed in the car was high-proof, and the buzz was hitting him hard now.
His mind was flooded with vivid memories of her soft, warm body arching against him.
He had no choice. He pushed the door open and stepped inside.
Hearing the sound, Liana didn’t get up-she couldn’t, with Theo clinging to her.
She gently patted the boy’s shoulder, waiting for Elian enter the bedroom.
But…
He didn’t come in.
She even thought she heard the sound of running water
Her phone suddenly ‘rang. It was Quentin.
She hesitated for a moment before answering. After all, he’d stepped in front of her this morning when that parent had gotten aggressive.

After hearing her voice, he paused for a few seconds before speaking this mome flat and heavy, then hung up again.
Distracted by Quentin’s words, Liana stopped paying attention to whatever was happening outside. A WhatsApp message from Quentin soon arrived. She opened it.
It was a video of Anya, held closely in Jett’s arms.
They appeared to be in a bar.
Quentin quickly followed up with a text. “Saw them aa bar. Don’t know the context, but thought you should see.”
He hadn’t wanted to send it, but his conscience wouldn’t let him keep it to himself.
Part of him always wanted to paint Elian in the worst possible light, to make Liana cun all ties cleanly.
But certain things made him hold back.
The video was short, and the bar was loud. It was impossible to tell what they were saying. But….
The way Jett looked at Anya as he held her was definitely not how a man looks at just a friend’s ex.
Did Jent have feelings for Anya?
And the way Anya was pressed so tightly against him didn’t look innocent either.
But maybe she and Elian are having problems, and she’s just seeking comfort from a friend?
As Liana was lost in thought, the bedroom door creaked open.
She quickly locked her phone and turned, startled, to see who it was.
Her mind was still reeling from the image of Anya and Jett’s intimate embrace, but her vision was now filled with Elian, wearing only a towel wrapped low around his hips.
It was the one he’d had Evan bring over for him last time.
Snapping back to reality, Liana averted her eyes, her cheeks flushing. “Put some clothes on,” she whispered.
Elian, surprisingly compliant, walked to the wardrobe against the wall and pulled out some of his own clothes to put on
Yes. He kept a change of dothes at her place.
She only looked up again as he was slipping on his paama top, her gaze tracing the familiar, broad line of his back. The memory suddenly clicked.
The feeling of having a man’s presence in her home instantly filled her with a sense of security, which was quickly followed by a sharp pang of loss.
Why hasn’t he taken his clothes away?

Why is he still using my shower?
Why is he still…
After putting on his pajamas, Elian walked around the foot of the bed.
