His Plump Mate (by Buchanan) novel Chapter 105

Chapter 105

Austin POV

I’m more confused than I have been in a long while. First, Rebel wouldn’t lie. If she said Harris is a beta, then I believe her. He kept her weak. I don’t care who the Alpha is, but if an Alpha man has an heir; first, he would not hide his heir. Second, he wouldn’t mistreat his heir, and third, he wouldn’t go around pretending he is a beta. Something seems even more off now.

If the Harris that Reid knew was an Alpha, then who the hell is the Harris that Rebel knows? What happened to the real Harris? Or is this the real Harris afterall? If this is in the medical records, then the councilman knows, which is why he seemed more angry then he did before the Luna Ceremony.

“Dr. Hadley, you are sure there is no trace of beta blood in Rebel’s bloodwork?”

“Alpha, I ran the test a second time myself. There is no mistaking, her blood is pure alpha. I’m sure you have noticed the Alpha traits she commands already. She is strong, her wolf is strong, she is strategic, and even though she didn’t get proper schooling, she is a quick study in everything she does. These are your own observations, are they not?” She asks with a level of seriousness that tells me she is giving me her assessment and medical opinion.

“Reid, I know this may be a long shot, but do you have a picture of the Harris you say is an Alpha?” I ask him.

“Unfortunately, no. But, if I met this Harris that ‘raised’ my granddaughter, I could tell you if it’s the same person.”

“Did you ever keep in contact with Harris after Sydney’s death?” I asked.

“No. I received word that he passed away after Sydney. I was told he couldn’t take the heartbreak from losing her.” He growled.

Reid seems to have anger against Harris that is more than because he lost his daughter. It seems like a deep- rooted hatred. I will ask him more about that later. Right now, I need to get to the bottom of this Alpha versus Beta, Harris mystery.

“Dr. Hadley, is there anything in your examination of Rebel that we need to discuss?” I turn my attention back to the doctor. I would rather know everything now, rather than piece mail it. My mate seems to have a lot of mystery surrounding her and I don’t think she even knew about these mysteries herself.

“The only other thing I saw in the bloodwork was a special marker in the werewolf gene. It could just be some of her wolf’s ability, however, it was pronounced. It doesn’t give me anything specific, but the bloodwork today showed this special marker is elevated even more. I think, and I could be wrong, but I don’t think I am, we are going to see more of Rebel’s abilities. As a True Alpha, she is bound to have them, but this seems Moon Goddess blessed. I’ve never seen this kind of a rebound and that type of an elevation in such a short time span.” She said.

“What does that even mean Dr. Hadley? Is she going to have more issues because of this marker?” I ask. Reid interrupts, “No. It’s going to get stronger, Austin. It’s what I need to discuss with you in Rebel’s room.”

I thank the doctor, even though my head is spinning with the new information I just received, and head towards Rebel’s room with Reid. There are a couple of extra chairs. I pull my chair next to Rebel and hold her hand. She is still sleeping. Her mind is still quiet in the mind link, so I think she will still be out for a couple of hours. She

looks beautiful and peaceful in her sleep. Not wanting to wake her up, I spoke low to Reid.

“What did you want to talk to me about?” I ask.

Reid begins, “First, thank you for loving my granddaughter the way you do. It’s very obvious that you love her sincerely and with all you have.”

I look down at Rebel and smile, “I waited twelve years for her. I will love her and protect her with my life.” I say respectfully.

“I know you will. The reason I want to talk to you privately, is because I’m sure you are going to have questions. I’m bringing a third of my warriors here to help you with Alpha Kaden. If Rebel is right, and I’m sure she is, then you will need the reinforcements. I called for them right after Rebel went in for surgery.”
