Rebel POV

After eating, Austin asks Renz to see if my grandpa is available. Then he clears the tray from my lap and sets it outside for the omegas to pick up later. He takes a seat beside me and then pulls me on his lap gently and inhales

my scent.

“I missed this,” he says with his face in my neck.

“I have missed this too.” I say, leaning in for a kiss. I wanted to deepen it, but Austin pulled away and groaned lowly.

“Rebel, behave darling. Your grandfather is almost here.” He smirks.

There is a knock at the door and Austin goes to answer it. My grandpa comes through and comes over to kiss the top of my head before sitting down on the couch. “I’m sure you must be thrilled for the pregnancy and even more that you are having twins.”

“We are grandpa. I have a lot of reading to do, so I am prepared to handle this pregnancy,” I said, “We need to talk to you about something pretty serious, though.”

“What’s on your minds?”

“Reid, I was filling Rebel in about Harris being here by the end of the week. As we were discussing everything about the councilman and when you and I discussed with Dr. Hadley, Rebel filled me in on something that Morgana said to her when she took her to the cave.” Austin explained.

My grandpa’s eyes darken at the name of Morgana. “What did she tell you, Rebel?”

“Morgana told me that she was hired by a man to create an illusion to make it look like my mother cheated on my father. She said my father killed my mother. She didn’t die in giving birth to me.” I said.

“WHAT!?” He snarled.

“Reid, we think the Harris that raised Rebel may have been behind Sydney’s murder. He could have hired her. What we don’t understand is why? Why kill her? Why take Rebel? What did he stand to gain in this plan?” Austin said.

“Grandpa, I want to see Harris myself. If it’s not the Harris you know, I will compel him to say the truth. I will get cleared by Dr. Hadley, but it may be better to have Harris brought in here with guards, instead of me going to the cells.” I say.

“I don’t want him to see you, Rebel.” He answers.

“Grandpa, I understand your concern. I do not want to be left alone with him, I need to be there though. If the councilman can record his statement, we could resolve a lot of issues. Even potentially with Morgana too.” I say.

“I hate the idea too Reid, but Rebel’s wolf can tell when someone is lying or telling a half truth. If we are going to get to the bottom of this and find the truth, we will need her help.” Austin said.

“If we are going to do this, then I want some of my warriors in the room too.” Reid said. He tone told me it was non-negotiable. Which is fine by me. I can’t fight right now and I certainly can’t shift, so I need to make sure I

“I have no issues with that grandpa,” I look at Austin, “Perhaps, it would be better to have this in the conference room? More space for more protection.”

“I can arrange it, but if things looks like they are going to escalate, I will shut down everything. No exceptions, darling. I need for you to stay safe.” He says.

“Okay with me. Let’s wait to see what Dr. Hadley says.” I tell him.

Austin POV

I ask Reid to accompany me to my office. It’s time to call Elias. I need to make sure he is updated with these new developments. If what Rebel and I suspect is true, then my mate’s life has been one fucked up lie.

She is right about one thing though. We need to understand why he orchestrated this and what he was gaining from all of this scheming.

As we enter my office and take a seat, I look at Reid. “Is there anything you want to discuss in particular before I make the call to Elias?”

“I’m trying to wrap my head around everything you and Rebel said. If what she is saying is true and my daughter was murdered and Morgana had a hand in it, I will tear her to shreds.” He says emotionally.

“I understand. I was shocked when Rebel was explaining everything to me as well. I think we should call Elias now. The sooner he knows, the better.”

I grab my phone and dial Elias’ number. “Elias here.”

“Councilman, it’s Alpha Austin. How are you?” I ask.

After a few minutes of pleasantries, I get down to business. “Councilman, there have been some developments and I wanted to update you, in case you wanted to update the council and the Central Council.”

“What updates?”

“First, Alpha Kaden came to my pack and we battled. The witch Morgana took Rebel and hid her in a cave. Kaden was going to force a mate bond with her in that very same cave. Luckily, I arrived on time before he had a chance to have his way with my mate. I killed him and as per council wolf laws, I was within my right to kill him. When I found Rebel, she was bruised and Kaden stabbed her with a silver knife. It’s a miracle she survived.”

“Oh my Moon Goddess! How is your mate now, Alpha Austin?”

“She is back home and on bed rest. We found out while the doctor was treating her, that she is pregnant with my twin pups.❞

“Thank the Moon Goddess she is alive and well. And congratulations on becoming parents. I hope you are both excited.”

“We are, but we have additional information to share with you.” I added.
