Rebel POV

I have been doing as the doctor instructed, staying on bed rest. I don’t want to take the chance of doing anything to hurt our pups. I have been reading the book the doctor gave me too. My boobs are going to get sore and bigger too apparently. Cravings are a thing. No wonder the omegas were smiling at me about cravings. I don’t know if I will have any of those, but I guess time will tell.

I’m reading through the book, when Austin comes back to the bedroom. He is looking at me and smiling. Reading about what to expect?”

“Yeah. Did you know my boobs get bigger too? Do you think that will be permanent?”

“I definitely won’t’ be complaining if it is permanent.” He says as he sits beside me and nibbles my ear and I a small moan slips from my mouth.

“I spoke to Elias with your grandfather.” He said inhaling my scent.

“What did he say?” I ask.

“He will have some council guards with him too. But we all agree, you need to be cleared first. Otherwise, we have a contingency plan to get him to talk.” Austin tells me.

“What’s the back-up plan then?”

“We are bringing his mate and daughter too. We will use them for leverage.” He says.

Something about it doesn’t sit right with me about using them for leverage. I know they don’t care about me. It shouldn’t bother me because they treated me like garbage too, but still, the idea of torturing them to get information out of Harris seems a bit excessive.

“Rebel, darling. If the doctor clears you, then it’s a non-issue. If Dr. Hadley says no, this is our only other option to get the information about your parents, Morgana, why he took you, his involvement, what he was trying to gain, and everything else we discussed. We need to know how deep this goes and if there are any other threats lingering that we don’t know about.” Austin says. I guess he can tell I am not thrilled at the idea of torturing my stepmother or half-sister.

“I understand Austin. I don’t know if they know anything about my situation. If not, then they are innocent in Harris’ scheme, despite the fact they have always treated me like a servant.” I say, “But, if Harris is going to be here in a couple of days, then why don’t we ask the doctor the day after tomorrow if I am well enough to question Harris?”

“That sounds good. If will give you time to recover. Has Roxie been talking to you?”

‘I’m still here Rebs. I will be ready for Harris when he gets here. With you resting and taking care of yourself, it’s taking some pressure off me.’ Roxie says.

‘I’m sorry Rox. I know you have a lot on your plate right now.’ I tell my wolf.

‘We need to resolve these threats Rebs. It will keep our pups safe.’

I look at Austin, “Roxie says she will be ready for Harris. She wants to get rid of any threats so the pups are safe.”

“That’s good. Then you should continue resting. Do you want me to get you anything to eat?”

“No. Not hungry at the moment. Just anxious to get this thing with Harris done. Will Elias be recording the meeting?”

“He said he would bring the right equipment to record everything.” He said.

“Okay. I’m going to take a nap. I think this exhaustion is partly because of the pregnancy too.”

“Then sleep, darling. I will be here when you wake up.”

Austin POV

I watch my mate lay back down. As soon as she closed her eyes, she fell asleep. I see the book that Dr. Hadley gave her. I’m glad she is reading it and getting familiar with how pregnancy works. I think when she is done reading, I will need to read it too. I may understand how pregnancy works, but I don’t know everything I need to expect and I certainly don’t know all the do’s and don’ts.

I mind link Dr. Hadley. I start asking her about Rebel and meeting with Harris.

‘Alpha, if Luna is following instructions for bedrest and she isn’t hurting, then I feel confident that she can meet with Harris. I can come to the pack house the morning of, and check Luna myself. However, I want her to be comfortable, no matter the setting. She needs to remain on bedrest for the time being until she completely

recovers.’

‘Very good doctor. I will make sure the setting is comfortable for her.’

‘Has Luna been able to talk to her wolf and check to see how she is doing?’

‘Yes, Roxie says she will be ready and the Luna taking the time to rest is helping to take pressure off her. She wants to get the truth to eliminate threats so our pups stay safe.’

“That’s good. There is communication, rest and healing. Can you tell me how the bruising on her face is doing?”

‘It looks like it’s healing quicker now doctor. It’s no longer purple. It’s more of a brown and yellow color.’

“That’s exactly what I was hoping for. I think Luna will be fine. I will confirm in a couple days.’

“Thank you, Dr. Hadley.”

‘Of course, have a good day.’

I closed the connection and then mind linked Renz. ‘Hey, can you make sure the conference room is ready for when Harris is brought in? I need for it to be cleaned but also made ready for Rebel in case the doctor clears her to question Harris.’

‘Sure. I’ll get it ready. Also, giving you the heads up now, Lacey, Jane, Adele and your mother are all planning to get started with the nursery. They are making lists. Expect to be driven crazy. I’m getting there. You called me right on time for me to escape this madness. They are acting nuttier than a squirrel’s turd.’

I chuckle quietly. “Thank you for the heads up. We don’t even know the sex of the pups and they are already planning everything.’
