Chapter 208
Austin POV
“I’LL FUCKING KILL YOU!” Morgana screamed at Rebel.
She was so distracted that she didn’t realize that I had gotten out of my cell. My skin burned against the narrow opening of the cell door and frame, but I was out, and that was all that mattered. I grabbed Morgana by the hair and threw her against the bars.
“NO ONE THREATENS MY MATE!” I roared.
I threw her into the cell that was holding me, and she landed with a hard thud. Before she could get up, I pushed the rogue into the cell so the cell doors could continue closing. Then I looked at Rebel. “I need to find the controls to open your cell. Then we will figure out our next move.”
“Okay, my love.” She said, waiting patiently as I went down the hall. My body screamed from the liquid silver and bars from the cell that had burned my skin. I get to the end of the hall and find a door. I don’t know what’s on the other side, but I busted through it and found a control room with monitors. There are two monitors and under each one there is a label that says, “Cell A” and “Cell B”. I noticed Rebel is in “Cell A”. I’m trying to understand these controls when I realize that both control stations are identical. So, I started studying them and saw there was an “on/off” switch. I think this is what opens the door. I’m not sure, but I turned it off and gave it
a try.
When I flip that switch, I see on the monitor that the lights above Rebel go out. That was not the right switch. I flip it back to open and then see two buttons that look similar to the buttons you would find in an elevator to open or close doors. I press the one that looks like it could be for opening the cell, and then I hear it. The opening of the door. I see Rebel stepping out of the cell and running down the hall to meet me. I come out of the room and grab her. I wrap my arms around her and inhale her scent.
“Are you okay, my love?” She says, looking at me, worried.
“Nothing I can’t handle, darling. Let’s get out of here and find the guards. They can get the rogues and then they can shackle Morgana and throw her in a cell next to Liora.”
“No. I want to kill her. If she is alive, she is a threat.” Rebel says.
“Think about the pup, Rebel. I can’t put you at risk like that. I’m weakened right now. We need the council right now to make sure she doesn’t escape again.” I try to reason with her.
I can see she is uncertain, but the truth is, I am trying to protect her and our pup. I don’t know what other crazy stunts that bitch will pull. I barely got out without being able to shift. I didn’t have the strength to kill her with the silver being on my body and probably absorbing in my skin too. I honestly feel weakened and if things go sideways, I don’t know if I’ll be fast enough.
After a moment, Rebel calms down, “Okay. We do this your way. So how do we get out of here?”
I grab her hand and we start walking. I grab the handle on the door and I hiss. It’s coated with a layer of silver.” Fuck.”
Rebel looks at my hand and shakes her head. “She really thought of everything. Even the smallest detail. You realize that even if they find us, they are going to get weakened by the silver too. I’m the only one it doesn’t

affect. Thank goodness she didn’t know that either.
Rebel goes to open the door, but it’s locked. Unlike the cell doors, this needs a key. My mate closes her eyes and puts her head back. “I’m exhausted at this point, Austin.”
I understand the fatigue my mate must be feeling. It’s late and she is pregnant. It’s been hours since she last ate. We don’t know if anyone is coming for us yet. I can’t mind link either. Rebel may be able to mind link, but that doesn’t mean a message will come back. We feel trapped at this point.
Rebel gets up and goes to the cell holding Morgana; I follow closely behind her. “Where are the keys, Morgana?”
She starts laughing. “You think I would hand over the keys to you? You locked me in this cell with two corpses and three rogues that are still unconscious. I’m not helping you with anything. We can all stay stuck here until we starve to death.”
“You’re right. We could starve to death, or I can kill you and still get the keys. We are giving you a chance to live. Right now, you have no magic, and you already used up your silver. You are no better than a human. So, if I open this cell door, make no mistake, you are my prey. I will become your worst predator. Or you can give me the fucking keys…willingly.”
I see Morgana’s eyes widen and then she starts laughing. “My Rebel, if I didn’t hate your blood line so much, we might have actually become friends. You are ruthless in your address. Unfortunately for you, I do hate your blood line, and I will not be handing you anything.”
“Austin, open then cell.” She said with a straight face and a deadly calm.
“Rebel, we talked about this…” I said.
“That was before we needed keys to open the door.”
She is right. I still don’t want her in harm’s way though. “How about I show you how to open the cell, and I’ll handle her?”
“Whatever gets us the keys.” She says.
As we get to the control room, we hear people banging on the door that’s locked. Rebel runs over, “Hello! Who’s there!?”
“Luna? Is that you?” Says the voice and I immediately recognize it as Jessup.
“JESSUP! IT’S US. WE ARE LOCKED IN!” I yelled. Thank the Goddess! They found us. I’m feeling weaker and I’m trying to hold out for Rebel.
Next thing we hear is the guards busting through the door. As soon as the hinges break and the door gives way, I yell at them, “Careful! There is silver everywhere.”
“Morgana?” Jessup asks.
“In Cell B with three unconscious rogues and two corpses. The way to open the door is in the control room, right there. Look for the button that looks like the elevator open doors symbol.” I say, leaning against the wall barely standing up at this point.
“Austin!” Rebel comes to my side. “I need to get your Alpha out of here, Jessup. Morgana threw liquid silver at
