Chapter 212
Rebel POV
I’m still with Austin and Jessup mind links me, ‘Luna, I just wanted to update you. Alpha Reid is out of surgery and stable. The shiv punctured his lung, but they were able to stabilize him on time. Luna Adele is with him now.
“Thank the Goddess! I can’t leave Austin. The silver that Morgana threw at Austin was highly concentrated. Dr. Moreno said to stay with him so Roxie can help heal him more quickly. I’m staying with him for the next twenty- four hours. Hopefully, they will be able to move him out of ICU after.’
‘How did she even get access to that type of concentration?’ Jessup asks.
‘I don’t know. But she is in the cells now, and she isn’t coming out ever again.’ I said. ‘If grandma asks, please let her know I will be there after Austin is in the clear.’
‘Will do, I’ll let her know.’ He says as he closes the mind link.
I’m watching over Austin when I hear a knock on the door. “Come in.”
I turn around and I see Stefan walk in. “How is he doing?”
“He is going to be here for twenty-four hours.” I said.
“What did the doctor say?”
“He’s concerned about the silver making its way to his lungs and Austin having respiratory problems. It was highly concentrated.”
“Highly concentrated?”
“Yeah. Jessup questioned it, too. I am concerned with my mate, but if you want to investigate how Morgana got her hands on that kind of concentration, I wouldn’t be upset.”
“I’ll start the investigation first thing in the morning. How is your grandfather?”
“He is recovering. Surgery to fix his punctured lung was successful. My grandma is with him.” I said, then I continued about the nurse. “Stefan, there was a nurse at the nurse’s station window at the ICU entrance. I don’t know why, but she was refusing me entry. I only got in because another family was coming out. She lied about why I couldn’t go in. I’m not sure what that was about, but I thought I should tell you, because she may be a threat.”
“I see. I will have surveillance put on her.” Stefan said as the room door was opening again.
It’s Dr. Moreno. He walks in confidently and starts looking at Austin’s vitals, “That won’t be necessary, councilman. I have personally taken care of the offending nurse. She will no longer be a problem.”
Stefan looks surprised at seeing the doctor, “Dr. Moreno, are you the attending? When did you get back?”
“My sabbatical ended two weeks ago. I just returned this week.” He said.
“You two know each other already?” I asked. Good, maybe I can ask Stefan about this doctor. Something seems to be off about him.

Stefan turns to me, “Yes, Dr. Moreno is quite a talent in medicine. He’s an exceptional doctor.”
“Your mate’s vitals are improving slowly. Continue to stay here with him. I can have a cot brought in so you can stay the night Mrs. Willis.” Dr. Moreno says.
“Thank you, doctor.”
As he closes the door, I turn to Stefan. “He doesn’t have the look of a doctor, Stefan. When I told him about the nurse, he got upset in a sinister kind of way. His eyes darkened to something lethal. Not typical doctor behavior.”
“No. It wouldn’t be, Luna.” Stefan said, “Dr. Moreno isn’t from around here. His family is well known in the furthest point of the southeastern region. By the coastline. It’s rough over there and he didn’t grow up in a good family. He is an excellent doctor though.”
I thought he looked exotic. He is from the coastline. So, ocean side, tropical, setting. That would explain his features. He didn’t grow up in a good family. I can sympathize with him there. It sucks when you don’t have anyone to call your home.
