Chapter 213
“Good. I want her to suffer. My family has suffered enough because of her.” I said.
I would feel bad or have a conscious, but after she threw highly concentrated silver at my mate, stabbed my grandfather with a shiv, and killed my mother, sorry, not sorry. She can rot in hell. I have no pity or mercy or sympathy to offer that bitch.
After the cot was brought in, I laid down beside Austin. I held his hand throughout the night and talked to Roxie about how Cronos was doing,
‘Cronos is there but weak, Rebs, I’m helping them heal. If Cronos heals, Austin heals.’
“I know you are doing all you can Roxde. With me being pregnant, it can’t be easy for you. When this is said and done, we are going to definitely have some rest,’
‘Let’s get our mates back first.”
The nurse comes in periodically to check Austin’s vitals. Each time, they tell me he is improving, I just want him to wake up and hear him call me darling again. I love how he loves me and I can’t imagine my life without him.
By morning, Austin looks like he has regained a little color in his cheeks, but he still looks weak. I’m beside myself with worry. Roxie is working double time to take care of our pup and heal Austin. Cronos is getting a little stronger, but it is all a struggle for him.
One of the nurses saw that I had not eaten and brought me a plate of food. I’m grateful because I should eat with being pregnant. The nurse says something interesting, though.
“Dr. Moreno spent all night in the lab. He’s been working on a cure for your mate.”
What? What is with this doctor? He looks intimidating in many ways, but he does care for his patient. I wonder what his deal is? I am starting to wonder if I should worry. I pushed my thoughts away for now. “That is very kind of him.”
“He is the best doctor I’ve ever seen. Even after a year on sabbatical, he comes back and doesn’t need time to catch up with anything. It was like he stepped back into routine and kept it moving. He really is a gifted doctor. We are lucky to have him back.”
Clearly, the nurse is being a fangirl right now. It doesn’t bother me, as long as my mate comes back to me fully
recovered.
She leaves the room, and I start eating breakfast. I need my strength if Roxie and I are going to give Austin our strength. I better stay healthy. I don’t want him to wake up and see me sick. He needs to focus on recovering.
After a while, Dr. Moreno comes into the room. How his eyes are not bloodshot red from staying up all night, I will never know. I couldn’t pull that off on my best day.
“Good morning, Mrs. Willis. Your mate is slowly recovering but recovering nonetheless.” He smiled gently.
“Good morning. I’m glad to hear it. Do you think the worst is behind us yet doctor?”

“No. However, while I was away for the past year, I was working on a silver poisoning cure. Last night, I was still working on it. Looking at your mate’s bloodwork, inspiration hit as to why I couldn’t get the exact formula right. When inspiration hits me, Mrs. Willis, I even forget that I am tired. So, I stayed up all night working on the serum, and I am ninety-nine percent sure it will work. Do you want me to try it on your mate?”
Austin’s bloodwork gave him the answer he needed to finish his research and create the cure? He’s ninety-nine percent sure it’ll work? “How are you so sure it will work? What’s the risks?”
“Risk is minimal. Everything is made with natural ingredients and herbs. When mixed correctly, it will produce the desired effect. I’m sure it will work because in your mate’s bloodwork, it stuck out to me that the silver was isolated in his blood. Meaning it didn’t spread out. Was it absorbed? Yes. Is it heading to his lungs? Yes. However, when I examined the bloodwork, it’s spreading more like shrapnel than a liquid spread. The serum I created is meant to target those specific pieces of silver and dissolve it, allowing it to go through and out of your mate in a natural way. Of course, we will rerun the bloodwork to make sure there is no more silver in him.”
‘Roxie, do you think he is telling the truth?’
