His Plump Mate (by Buchanan) novel Chapter 214

Chapter 214

Rebel POV

I’m nervous about the serum and whether or not it will work. Roxie seems to trust Dr. Moreno, and if I have said it once, I have said it a thousand times; she hasn’t steered me wrong. I watch as he administers the serum he has created into the IV line. Once he is done, he looks over at me.

“Now, we wait. I will leave to you to rest with your mate.” He says.

“Dr. Moreno.” I said before he walked out of the room.

“Yes?”

“I want to thank you. One of the nurses told me you stayed up all night, working on this serum. I don’t know what compelled you to do this for my mate, but I am forever grateful.”

“I heard about your past and all the obstacles you have faced over the last year, Mrs. Willis.” He said, “It seems like the last of the threats are gone. It would be a complete shame for you both not to have your happy ending.” He finished, smiling

I smiled at him and gave him a knowing look. “I’m sure you must be tired. I won’t delay you any longer from getting some rest.”

He left, and I continued sitting with Austin. Occasionally, I would mind link Jessup or Jane and ask them how my grandparents are doing. My grandpa has woken up, and my grandma is staying by his side, while he recovers. He should be discharged today, since his wolf has almost completely healed him.

“Luna, Alpha Reid and Luna Adele, would like to come up to the ICU to see you and Austin once your grandfather is discharged.’ Jessup said.

“That would be great. I really appreciate you and Jane staying the entire night here. You both must be exhausted. Once my grandfather is discharged, you and Jane go back to the hotel and get some sleep.’

‘What about you, Luna? Do you need anything?”

‘Everything I need is in this room with me, Jessup, You go rest. Thank you both for being here.’

‘We wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. I will let you know when your grandparents are on their way up and then we will leave for the hotel.’ He said and closed the mind link.

I continue looking at my mate. He doesn’t look so pale now, but he is still unconscious. After a couple of hours, I take a moment to go to the bathroom and as I am washing my hands, I hear groaning.

I dry my hands quickly and rush into the room. I hear Austin groan again. It’s soft, but he is waking up. My heart expands with warmth. I need to hear his voice.

“Austin? My love, can you hear me?” I asked, desperately, wanting him to respond. He doesn’t though. The groaning was a temporary reaction. I rang the call bell for the nurse. When the nurse comes in, I tell her what I witnessed.

She starts reading his vitals and smiles. It appears he is starting to wake up. He is still weak though, so he may be trying to push past the fog in his mind from the silver. I will get Dr. Moreno.

“Didn’t he leave to get some rest?” I asked.

“He went to one of the doctor rooms here in the ICU ward. It’s for doctors to rest but still be available while their patients recover. He was adamant about being the on-call doctor this week. So, he is still here. Let me go get him.” She said, leaving the room quickly.

I run my fingers through Austin’s hair and kiss him gently on his lips. “Please come back to me, my love. We have so much to celebrate and I miss you.”
